Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

I'm sure we'll have plenty of applications for the manager job and plenty of players wanting to come to us, a week or two of turmoil and fan unrest nothing new at any club these days, goes with the territory for managers, players see managers come and go at regular intervals.

What is worth bearing in mind is we might have a fair few unsettled and confused players, as ours have known nothing other than relative stability in their time with us and were brought in by Evatt, for Evatt's way of playing. Can certainly understand Randall's head being in a spin, courted for months, brought in for big fee, manager gone within a fortnight.

It's not a case, in my eyes at least, of us having a load who'd downed tools for their previous boss and a new guy suddenly getting them running through brick walls and flying into tackles.  They were still trying for Evatt, just that sort of stuff isn't in their DNA and they'd lost confidence, courage and form. It may just be that a new set of eyes, voice and ideas might free one or two up to show attributes that were being hidden or at least supressed by what they were being asked to do.

So on Dion the version I was told Saturday.

Huddersfield made their interest known.

Dion approached the club and said I am not desperate to move so if you pay me X% more and extend contract I will stay.

Club said you are not getting a rise. Dion asked if Huddersfield had matched our expectations in terms of a fee, club said yes.

Dion said I will go then, so he gets more money and a longer contract. We get the fee we thought was right.

Some stuff is common and well known and other stuff is obvious…

The has been an air of toxicity for a while round the place for some time

It’s got to a point whereby players are told “you play this way and that’s it”

Some players haven’t been going to training

Simply not even showing up

My guess one of them is Williams

Maybe that’s why the exit door beckons (maybe not so much now)

Evatt was at the hotel because he was kicked out

Apparently, he had a string of girlfriends and it’ll all come out soon

They wanted to do a community day but they can’t afford to do one

The club is scraping by

The staff all knew that there was an emergency board meeting BEFORE the game and he was apparently told, lose this and you’re gone

Emergency meeting after the game solidified that and the staff woke to an email early hours of the morning confirming it

Yesterday, albeit there was a sad atmosphere, there was relief

Apparently, it’s been very eerie recently and not a good place to work

Sureley Lincoln on 28/12 was a Community day ???

Heard there was a rented flat. He was also nailing sonny sharples mum apparently

what even goes on at a community day that costs money?

I thought it was just an excuse for cheap tickets

maybe they had to cancel a face painter or bouncy castle or something

who said anything about facts?

this is pure rumour mongering

take your pick

the source (who I removed just in case) works at the club, so seems reliable enough

all seems perfectly plausible to me and fits with what we do know and what we've heard on the grapevine re: training and shagging

Presume you mean once we have a manager?  No decent striker is going to sign for a club with no manager unless its all about money and they have no other options.

Same would apply to loan players, clubs won't want to send them to us currently.

This should have happened at least a couple of weeks ago to give us a fighting chance in the transfer window.

Yes, when a manager is in place.

There won’t be any movement until that happens.

I agree, not the best timing. But at least we’re in a position now where we can move forwards with a bit of hope and positivity.

Alternatively, in the coming summer which is what (i believe) was what they wanted to do

"The club is scraping by"?

We spent >£1M on a player last week. Admittedly offset by the sale of Charles, but hardly sign of a club "scraping by".

this is from somewhere who works on the non playing side of things so maybe they mean in terms of budgets for non playing things, the type of things the everyday non playing staff have to work and deal with

I'd ask more questions myself, but it's a mate who sent it to me, who's step sister (who sent him that)  is good mates with someone at the club, so not sure we'll get more "insight" than that

Kids, bouncy castles & Peter Kay's home town.

What could go wrong ???

This, all other matters aside, should have happened mid December giving time for a new guy to arrive & January to be about bring new players in & some go.

That was at exactly the time Sharon sent out her Merry Christmas message & a gentle telling off to those hoping to see him gone. Her 'vote of confidence' if you will.

She then let the club's only real striker go & spent £½m more than that fee on a player who maybe turn out to be a star but is little different in style than 3 or 4 already here.

The club was full square behind him until Tuesday even if some were beginning to wonder.

He gave the post match interviews but was then sacked ... in some form or another.

They've slipped up not having Sammy the Snake at previous ones

Do people think Evatt commuted from Chesterfield on a daily basis? Of course he stayed at the hotel

Remember about a year ago when i mentioned the money doesn't last forever, regarding Evatts inability to get us promoted. Investors get bored and Sharon isn't really wealthy vs the average league one owner.

Battering 15-20 Cambridge's each weak but getting rinced by the top 6 simply would never get us enough points.

Sure the stats looked good 50% win rate and stuff but it's not good enough for a top 2 finish and even if you make the play offs you face those very sides you got rinced by all season.

Certain people have been able to see the above for a long time within the club, and there has been alot of lets call it disagreement in the camp.

The cheap tickets means it doesn’t generate as much revenue compared to a full price game with a lower attendance.

Worth noting that these are generally decided pre-season and built in to the budget.

To win this league you need over 60% win rate (65% gets you 90 points)

but you are correct - analyse the make up of the 50% in the last few years and it is against the poorer teams.

to get autos and let’s be honest even win the play offs we have to be regularly competing and beating top 6 teams and also changing our ineptness in other key games eg Wigan, Blackpool away, Stockport, Rotherham etc

It was very odd at the end.

The timing is awful, even if we gave a new manager a "war chest" he won't be able to spend it after this month and which player who may be in our sights would come to a club not knowing who the manager is going to be?

Something must have happened or been said on Tuesday to finally tip the balance against IE.

Reckon it was tipping for some time, just a rusty fulcrum meant he didn't slide off.

If you win 30, you can lose 16 which in reality will not happen.

think we lost 4 when we got 99 points, so you will get draws.  3 draws is 1 win, which ok does reduce your win percentage slightly.

For the rest of this season, we will need a win percentage of at least 60% to more than likely just get in the play offs.

90 points plus SHOULD get you up automatically.
