Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

That crowd was 100% the straw that broke Evatts back.

Can't be having 8.5k on for a league game.

In years to come people will say I was there for Evatts last game at Bolton, as he takes over the England job!

Seems the timing is very strange to me! Only 9 days of the window left, a full management team to recruit, not a good start for any new manager. Whoever comes in now wont really be able to put his own stamp on things, he will still have six midget like for like  midfielders, and a poor defence to cope with. I think we may get someone in for the rest of the season, and take it from there, we wait with baited breath.

That is an excellent point..

The decline definitely started over 12 months ago.

fwiw, there has to be something lined up

Any decent manager would have us in the playoffs if given the resources Evatt had at the time we should've potted him (Huddersfield at home at the latest). Particularly those that fancy they'll be managing in the Premier League in a year's time.

But it's undoubtedly a tougher job now we've pissed away half the season, sold our top scorer, filled the squad with players who can't play together and smashed everyone's confidence to bits.

i assume mutual consent means he quit. and gets no or very little payout?

anyway, its all bollocks.

if we dont get a manager who takes us to automatic now, im getting the grey marls out.

It did raise a smile reading that statement with "won the Papa John's trophy for the first time in over 30 years".  Allardyce never did take cup competitions seriously.

Lowe is Evatt Mk 2

Really? He's had 3 clubs and got 2 of them promoted. At worst he had PNE standing still - they are the Championships perennial club after all. His CV beats Schumacher's but I'd be chuffed with either of them tbh.

With her emphasis on loyalty, patience and faith, she was just giving as much time as possible.

I respect her in a away, even though history will tell us you are probably right, this should have happened earlier.

Obviously, and I too respect their loyalty to him. Apparently he did likewise at times.

Unfortunately, they've also made a huge cock up.

It's been clear for some time that he'd lost the plot; blaming players and fans, picking fights, behaving badly etc.

Performances and results been getting worse, not better.

I said some time ago, that if they were backing him, then they have to let him do things his way- which they did- and then got rid!

Simply had to be done before the window, but now we've chucked away our best striker, who might have felt better if Evatt had been potted earlier.

Hopefully, they will learn from it.

Was gonna ask how that ships getting on that's meant to be in New York any time soon :D

quote in the BN from Evatt:

Oh yeah, people go on about Titanic, Titanic... Let me tell you something about the Titanic, people forget, people forget that on the Titanic's maiden voyage there were over 1000 miles of uneventful, very pleasurable cruising before it hit the iceberg!

Next appointment is huge for Sharon and the board, as this season has been a farce. They were close to Evatt in a way that wasn't in the best interests of the team, and have dithered and delayed on moving on even though it's been apparent for months that this was inevitable.

Even the announcement today is all about how amazing Evatt is even as we're sacking him. Smacks of a group with no plan, who'd still be ploughing on with Ian if they had their way.

Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt insists he would walk away from the club if he felt he could not turn around the club's faltering form

after the last two games, I don't think he has a case that he can

and fat evatt being much better than thin evatt

He should have been sacked after the Oxford final. He was given massive funds to build his own squad.

Oxford found us out and teams following that model, had us sussed.

Stubbornness to change formation, failure to perform in local derby's and against the better sides, there are so many examples of why he should have gone sooner. Buying lightweight, luxury players from the same mold..

He has left us without our best striker, lest we forget.

This hasn't happened overnight, and given the timing, there is half the window left, I would like to think that the owners have made inroads to a replacement already.

So much about the club makes us a great opportunity for the next manager, its essential to get us motivated and moving up again.
