Bizarre? Bold?
A couple of ways Evatt's selections were described.

I'd just say unexpected and that it's a squad game. Morley and Dempsey will play plenty, I'm sure.

Aye, I don't doubt IE and maybe bizarre was the wrong word

But as good as Thomasson was v Crewe I wasn't expecting him to replace Morley

And I'd have Kachunga and Dapo in ahead of Baka any game, I'll certainly find it bizarre if he starts next week

But we won so all good

My 1-3 prediction didn’t come in (thank fook!). Happy with that. A few teams lost games today so we gained some ground.

Completely agree but with the way Morley and Dempsey played against Wycombe and in some of our other games that midfield is going to keep changing. Sheehan back soon - plus Evatt has said that Lee at 34 will need resting. There's clearly a "horses for courses" element to all this too - team selection based on opposition.

George Thomason is only 21 and is progressing very nicely. It speaks volumes that he's not been loaned out and it was never even really suggested. If he keeps up this rate of progress he's going to some player in 12/18 months.

Yeah you are probably right think IE likes to change it for whoever we play can see Morley and Dempsey back in for the next game. Do have concerns our strikers are not scoring but good to see other players scoring for us.

Dempsey was on fire when he came off the bench. That’s what you want to see from our subs. Really wanting to make an impact and impress the boss. That tackle in the 90+ minute upfield when he really didn’t need to bother, spoke volumes for me.

What is Baka doing here? Can someone explain? How many Charlton defenders has he taken out with this move?

He made the near post run and one of their defenders followed him until the cut back. He helped create the massive hole that left Lee the time and space to score.

If you look at the screenshot below (just as the cross is made), it’s more obvious.

He obviously anticipated Bradley's shot would be on target (rather than scuffed), so was jumping to avoid blocking it.

Like said earlier, it's funny how we see games differently because I thought Baka was very good yesterday, he was in good positions ready to score when the ball should of been passed to him instead of other players trying to beat the keeper at the front post.  He closed down well and got about the pitch, he was definitely a valued team member in this game, I like his work rate.

His basic passing was abysmal!

I agree with this- we're not always finding the final ball when he's in a good position.

His control at times though is biz.

To be fair to Baka he’s a ball in behind player rather than back to goal and into feet type of player.

Making a run to the near post for a cross from Jones is also a possibility.

Either way, it moves defenders as you say.

Jesus - the comments after that article! And the ones on Facebook! 😳😳

One bloke commented that he went to Jersey on holiday as was pleased to see a 'lack of dark faces'.

Somebody needs to stick a spellchecker on joes laptop

That has to be The Little Belgian who confronted them. Good on them, whoever it was.

Can see them unfortunately having support from a minority of our fans.

2 guys behind booing them taking the knee,

Doesnt half spaz my phone up that Bolton News site.

Its like watching dodgy porn back in the day. Adverts popping all over gaff, page never loads proper and Im fucked if I can ever find the comments.

Bunch of scruffy pound shop fascists 😂

Absolutely, but he ought to be better at it nonetheless.

It is certainly the case that perhaps we don't give our strikers the greatest opportunity to score goals in the way we play, but so long as its successful they should be happy that their contribution still plays it's part.

After all the VAR nonsense this weekend (Brighton today included), it makes me very grateful we don't have VAR.  Yesterday would have been spoiled greatly, no doubt a 5 minute delay to work out the first goal was handball, then the same for our disallowed goal.  All ruining the moment, I'd rather go with occasion errors without VAR than all the delays and incorrect/marginal disallowed goals and 5 minute mood killers with VAR.

Saw that on my way down around 2.30

Driving round the car park in front of hotel slowly with Rule Britannia blasting out

I saw them in front of the main entrance and then in the car park in front of the hotel . The van had riot grills on the windows . They obviously targeted the family fun day. I think Priti Patel may have been driving

On a separate issue why was their a big block of empty seats East Stand  upper half way line .

Thomasson had a cracking game and I enjoyed Dapo's late appearance .

Nice to turn on a bit of style in front of a big crowd .

They've put most of Lion of Vienna suite regulars onto the balcony seats outside the lounge.

I'm wondering what's changed though?  Since our form improved from Jan (Ipswich), we scored 44 if I've counted right, in 22 games: 43 by our players in open play plus an OG and 2 pens.

6 were by defenders (4 from John); 8 by midfielders and 27 by "strikers", more than a goal a game:

Charles 8, Baka 7, JDB 7, Dapo 5.  Out of 22 games, there were only 5 games when no striker scored - amazing stat and I wouldn't expect it to continue at that rate.

But 7 games without a striker scoring for us is a bit odd.  I just wonder if our style has changed that much from a few months ago?
