The Queen

Seems to have taken a turn for the worse.

She is 96.

  • RIP. Very sad.  Whether you're Royalist, anti-Royalist or somewhere in between.  For the vast majority of us, she's been our Queen for all our lives.  Feels strange that it's no longer the case.

  • She did this. And she probably didn’t have to because she was the Queen. But she did. What a woman.

4 billion don't have TVs, that number is bollocks

I reckon that more than one person watched each telly, plus it was on in bars, theatres, cinema halls, cruise ships etc, but I suspect you know this.

Jesus 🤦‍♂️

Plenty of folk on Twitter and FB saying that the royals don’t work as it’s “not a proper job” 🤦‍♂️

My lad was saying how lucky the royal kids are because they must have loads of money. I soon put him straight, those kids are sent off to boarding school son, don’t see their family for weeks on end,  they don’t get to go and watch their favourite team with their mates, don’t get to make dens after school, don’t go to skate park etc etc. if anything I fell sorry for Royal kids.

This is why I respect Harry for getting out.  It's no life at all.

I've got some magic beans to sell to anyone who believes that figure

Whatever the figure is, do you not think it will possibly be the most watched piece of broadcasting in the history of television?

The figures are for the number of people to have watched some of it. I reckon half the world did at some point.

Over 3.5 billion watched the opening ceremony for the 96 olympics, thats the current record. I’m pretty confident yesterdays figures will be a lot higher

It was pretty hard to avoid .
I had little interest really but watched quite a bit and it was brilliant. Anyone not feeling bit of national pride yesterday would be in a tiny minority.
When this country comes together for such an event we are brilliant.

Doubt we have ever had a better monarch.

Given every world leader was there (give or take a few dictators and folk at war) it would be covered by every news station round the world .

Only six not there. Russia Belarus Syria Myanmar Afghanistan and for some reason Venezuela.

I did think the England squad, or some of, would have shown their face.

I think we've fallen out because we've nicked* about $3B of their gold, and we're not giving it back, because we don't "recognise" the bloke who claims to be in power now. Or something like that

*by nicked, I mean it's in the vaults at the BoE, and we're not letting them anywhere near it

And folk say I shouldn't wang on about reading some books.

Costumes? Ffs

That was tongue in cheek. I did think of you as I typed it 😀. Nearly as splendid as a production that you may be involved in

I didn’t need to refer to any books. The font of all royal knowledge provided a running commentary for me as we sat watching

FA were represented by their Chaiman.

Given most of those leaders are from countries in different time-zones, and their citizens didn't get a bank holiday, I'd say the estimate of 4.1 billion viewers watching it Live is a tad overstated.

Timezones don't matter when your funeral is 18 hours long.

So long as all those broadcasters paid their bills into the UK coffers, who gives a fuck about the numbers?

So would you say the 3.6 billion for the Olympics is a tad overstated

They don’t know the words to the anthem. Changing from Queen to King will proper throw them.

They haven't been singing it as long as you have though
