He was saying that it was a big factor in the Brexit vote, we can debate that for ever.

i was asked what my statement was based on so i added a link. 

Immigration wise we’d be far better off in the EU now.

Many, many people in this country have very legitimate and deeply held concerns about immigration. The vast majority are not out on the streets indulging in mindless violence and do not have "far-right" or racist views. These rioters are doing their cause no favours. Nor have the equivalent social disorder problems in other countries in recent times, notably the Republic of Ireland.

I hope the Government recognises that people who have views on immigration are entitled to do so and do not use this reprehensible behaviour to brush those views aide as somehow minority/fringe/extremist. 

 

I do appreciate your sentiment on the whole, and I'm not having a go at you specifically.

But, perhaps if the 'vast majority' of people who are peacefully protesting their concerns about immigration are, in turn, concerned about reputational damage to their cause - they should be calling out/self-policing the extremist members of their community who are choosing to riot. 

After all, that argument is usually thrown at the entire Muslim community when one of their own does something vile.

Let’s just be honest, the people going to these events aren’t going to peacefully protest.

People who have views to express on immigration are not a "community". They are everyday folk who have views on everything from tax levels to potholes to social care. The "vast majority" are not protesting their concerns, they are expressing them whether in their own front room, on social media or over a pint at the boozer. The point is it is legitimate to have a view on immigration and in a healthy democratic society folk are entitled to articulate it. The act of doing so does not make them "extreme".

Watched the thing from start to finish and unfortunately it's accurate. 

I'd love to say it's a group of radicalised Far right thugs, but it wasn't, there wasn't any kicking off until the large group of Muslims arrived. The chants of Allahu Akbar were sickening tbh. 

Knew of 3 arrests before that point, all had been peaceful but had bags checked etc and were rightly arrested. 

Two Asian lads arrested clearly for carrying weapons, one on a bike where the weapon wasnt clear, another rushed around to the Protest with a cricket bat. 

When the large masked group could not get to the protesters (about 50-75) they went around the town centre and tried to get the the group via Bradshawgate (near Nelsons column), hence the scenes there with the police horses bottling them up,at this point a few fireworks were thrown into the group of Protesters. 

I know it's hard for some to swallow, but it would have been peaceful and was with both groups, until a heard of counter protesters arrived in the way they did.. It was clearly organised and they did it to incite violence, When it didn't kick off as they wanted it to, they tried another way..

The protesters by their nature are atagonistic, and shouldn't be there in the first place,

Really? You may not agree with why people protest but if it’s peaceful and no laws were broken you’d be happy for fans to be banned for protesting?
