So you had Action, Image, Exchange do a play about the history of British Colonialism? Not much of a story, is it to be honest?

I think you missed the point he was making at the end tbf. You sarcy bastard 😉

That's good, means another Labour victory.

Could easy be a Labour & Green coalition from that.

Can see Reform’s daft as fck head in the sand approach to the climate crisis hitting their votes.

There was more to it. Everyone will know that.
In the permission letter that was sent home, it was explained that it was an attempt to look at other cultures other than our own.

It'll be Starmer's fault, though.

I've not seen that before, but I will take it as fact.

It would, however, completely go against their own policy of inclusivity etc.

Either way, to treat her that way- a young child wanting to join in and talk about her experience- is shameful.

As for the idea that her dad had written it- firstly I'm not aware of the details of her presentation so can't comment.

Secondly, so fucking what if he did. It's very unlikely that any pupil would have done the work without help from a parent; talking about such things is part of a healthy relationship.

Maybe anyone seeking to denigrate that didn't have the same level of relationship with their parents, and has had a chip on their shoulder since.

Absolutely right.

Unfortunately, previous and the current government haven't fully gone in to the rationale behind it all with the electorate, and have gone about much of the change in an arse about face way.

As a result, any subsequent issue play into the hands of deniers.

Plus, rightly or wrongly, the environmental situations isn't regarded as top priority by many people, and Reform are the ones who are capturing the mood of them and their priorities.

Don’t take it as fact as it’s not.

Much the same mate.

Always loved our history.

In my misguided youth I was all over the Ulster thing. No surrender all that caper.

Then I read a few books and saw things from a different angle and what utter cunts we've been historically in Ireland and it's no wonder they hate us.

Same goes all over the world.

I'm proud we've given the world so much, but Christ almighty we did a lot of damage along the way.

Here here 👏

Had a similar Ulster phase when I was 16. Quite brief to be fair.

Was singing along to the Pogues & the Dubliners a year later 😄

I didn't.

The greens will have to sort out their terrible comms before they come close to having enough to form any sort of coalition.

I'm saying the Dad knew exactly what he was doing when he sent his daughter dressed like that.

“We encourage kids to wear something that reflects their nationality” nothing more says British than a skimpy Union Jack dress!

But no football kits were allowed. What kind of fucked up school is this? Football is British culture!

Have they said how they will stop the boats?

Its also the way we speak, our humour, our values of fairness and politeness, and the mix of old traditions and new ideas

But sometimes at school, we only hear about other cultures — which is great because learning about different countries is interesting and important. But it can feel like being British doesn’t count as a culture, just because it’s the majority.

I think culture should be for everyone — not just for people from other countries or backgrounds. Being British is still a culture, and it matters too. It’s part of who I am.

So let’s celebrate all cultures — whether they come from far away or right here at home.

That bit of her piece is nice. Well written.

I’d be keen to hear the full story behind this though. Seems to be a lot of meltdowns going on. Only place I can see the story is the usual shite tabloids when you Google it.

Thought the letter from the school was okay

We encourage students to consider wearing attire that reflects their nationality or family heritage. This cannot include sports kits such as football kits. Please ensure that any outfit worn is appropriate for a school setting and holds cultural significance. If your child is unsure about what to wear or has any questions, they are welcome to speak with their form tutor for guidance. If your child chooses to wear
cultural dress the document below must be completed by Tuesday 8th July.

Leave the ECHR - drag them back to France.

Meanwhile we’re left to rely on Reform to rewrite all our basic human rights.

The same bunch that just put some teenagers in charge of family & children’s services on local councils.

What could possibly go wrong …

Depending upon who you chose to believe we don't have to allow the boats in, and don't have to leave the echr to stop them.

Apparently, international law isn't binding in the way domestic is.

This would seem to be borne out by the fact that other signatories don't accept echr rulings in the way we do, with much lower levels of adherence.

On that basis, a government could  just "take them straight back, or block them off if it chose to do so.

The problem we have is that the echr bit is enshrined within our law via the human rights act.

Therefore, leaving the echr and removing it from ours should remove the ability of dodgy lawyers to challenge so much.

That would seem to be the thrust of what Tice has said previously.

France has been asking us to stop being such an attractive proposition for migrants, which clearly we should.

At the same time, they could also do their bit and send them packing from France as soon as they're found.

It is an international problem, but we have to toughen up to help reduce demand and break the smuggling trade.

Do our bit, and other nations will have little option but to follow suit, rather than carrying our what is tantamount to a fire fighting operation.

I may have missed the bit where you answered my question, apologies if so.

But can you just tell me how reform have said they will stop the boats?

And bear in mind, the answer needs to be simple. Three words ideally.

Mmm. Makes you wonder what Mohammed Fahir Amaaz gets for punching a female police officer in the face. (allegedly)

More hard to believe is that these 2 have been on remand since they were nicked. Are prisons full or not?

Two tier Kier obviously made an executive decision to not only keep them in remand but also hand down their hefty sentence.
