I don’t think anyone is suggesting it’s racist to ask someone where you’re from, especially if English isn’t their first language. We all do it and it’s normal friendly conversation. The problem

An apolitical monarch acting as Head of State in a constitutional monarchy - as we have now - is the ideal position in my opinion

Absolutely. You can see what biased presidents of republics can do in France and the US.

Constitutional monarchy is the best system ever devised. Don't listen to leftie troublemakers, especially those with a penchant for stealing hubcaps.

Saw King Charles earlier at COP.

I know some don't believe he should be there, and generally I agree, but the issue of climate change supercedes politics and I have no issue with his presence, so long as his comments don't become politically divisive.

I though his speech was good, but perhaps the delivery was the most impressive. Not a formulaic reading out of duty, but there was clear passion in there, together with knowledge.

Of course the climate debate nay sayers will be critical, but it was a fine introduction to the conference.

What will follow..

I think credit where it's due to Rishi on having the balls to show his face there at all.

Especially when you think of everything that has been achieved since the last COP. Hundreds of new oil and gas licences; backtracking on a load of climate pledges and managing to secure fck all investment in wind power.

I'd imagine North Korea probably achieved more since the last COP.

Plenty of investment in wave power.

Increasing number of solar farms.

Wind farms still being built, and another investment package announced a day or two ago to build yet another "biggest wind farm in the world" off in dogger bank.

A cock up in the pricing offer to wind providers, but an increase in the bidding frequency from every two years to every year.

Bringing forward efforts to improve and increase electrical supply to meet the future demands of green energy.

The only real delay is to cars and heat pumps. Not something I agree with, but understandable given the supply system isn't yet available to cope.

An overall increase in renewable supply total from around 6% to around 50% in 13 years or so, and a world leader in the area.

Now then, only yesterday Sir Kier again refused to say where the extra £28bn extra funding would come from, but did say that it would be done within financial constraints. Perhaps that means they won't do it at all?

Renewable energy investment will pay for itself in time, but as ever folk bleat about paying a bit more in the meantime.

Of course, in your infinite blind bigotry, you ignore the whole picture.

Persistent shouting at clouds in the continued attempt to lie your way to another reality.

He has been criticised. By some.

And applauded by others.

I note you don't deny the complete ignorance you illustrated.

Bout time.

Moan about sheep, moan about everything environmental. Not fully informed, and offer nothing alternative.

Maybe stick to waving a Palestinian flag.

Haha

The state of that post. Completely incapable of having a reasonable discussion.

Of course I deny it 👍 Sunak has taken this country backwards and has been criticised by most climate experts. He has been applauded by those in the oil and gas industry. Wonder why that is ?

I'll go with the views of the experts rather than a loyal Tory voter.

My views on irresponsible livestock grazing are something that has been echoed by the scientific community. Better land management, rewilding and conservation are the alternatives. Here you go - Winter Bale Grazing and Regenerative Agriculture — Highlands Rewilding

Addressing biodiversity loss is just as important as transitioning to renewables.

Back to the topic.

Harry won some of his claims against the mirror group.

Piers Morgan just made a verbal statement live.

Fucking hell, like him or loathe him, he's come out swinging. Remarkable.

Aye

The media culture of hacking and harassment is grim. Whether or not you like or dislike any celebrity, they deserve justice.

Indeed. Though some very interesting comments from Morgan, who I was referring to.

Worth a listen, as he accuses individuals of lying in court, whilst not being allowed to give any evidence of his own.

Fundamentally: yes Harry etc are entitled to recourse for illegal activity.

If accusations are made on the back of it though, that haven't been proven, then that's another matter.

More mileage in this I reckon.

Morgan was named by Jeremy Paxman in the original Leveson inquiry, as showing him how they hacked voicemails. Poor Jezzas health would prevent that evidence from ever getting heard in court now.  Morgan was also cleared in the city slickers scandal, where his paper were promoting stocks that he held and was then, by strange coincidence flogging them off when their values shot up temporarily.

He's one slippery fecker.
