Yep

It's about one thing and one thing only at this stage - results

Job done move on. Another top day travelling round the country with lads who know the score.

Did someone say put Cameron Jerome at centre back on here?

Bolton.

Clinical.

Fuck em

0-1 the only stat that matters.

That's our third win in three visits to Oxford. It was 2-4 under Parkinson in our promotion season in 16/17; it was 2-3 last year and today's win. We were due to play them on the last day of the season that was cut short because of the pandemic.

... set me to thinking when we last lost in Oxford. Turns out it was a whole 39 years ago almost to the day. We got humped 5-0 in Div 3 by an Oxford side on its way to the title. Played in the city (at the old Manor Ground) three times in the 1990s - winning 1 and drawing 2 without conceding a goal.

We often talk about our bogey grounds (nasty little example coming up on Tuesday), well Oxford is the opposite.

Im sure when we lost 5-0 Paul, we beat them at home in the same season?

We played shit but at the end of the day the Table looks better today than it did yesterday.

Job done on to the next one

Oxford were poor for the first 30 and there for the taking, but we didn't kick on after the goal.  MJ did well on the ground at the back, but couldn't get off the ground for anything in the air.  They may have had 20+ shots but few troubled Traf, they were mainly hit and hope types of shot, either straight at the keeper or wide.  Dempsey could have sealed 3 points late on but blazed over.   Few of the team looked knackered, Morley in particular.  Fresh legs needed for Tuesday.

I remember both games well, 1-0 at home (Chandler) in front of biggest home crowd of season on 27th Dec, 1 day after we won at Wigan (Chandler).  Aldridge scored his first Oxford goal in the 5-0 loss and ridiculous as it seems now we played the day after,  again v Wigan.  And no squad rotation in them days, fatigue and minor injuries hadn't been invented.

24 shots, 0 goals is basically 24 instances of giving the ball away.

It would have been fine if Traf was sent off as he could have done a stint in nets as well.

Tough watch but grinding out back to back wins at this stage is fantastic especially away. In terms of the match I thought we'd blitz them when we got the first early on as Oxford looked awful but we just kind of stopped playing from half an hour into the game & gave them a lot of confidence to come at us... luckily they couldn't finish their dinner. IMO our midfield three today were miles off it as soon as Oxford bypassed our front two's press they always had around 40 yards of open space to drive at our back 5 which had no protection. I know they're 20th but they did beat us 3-1 at our ground in the reverse fixture where we are usually formidable so it was always going to be a very tricky match realistically.

Just back, a long drag thanks to a cancelled train back & a nerve wracking 2nd half but the 3 points make it all worthwhile.

Johnston was our best player, MJ wasn't pretty but was effective, Morley, John & Dan N weren't so good ...........but as a team they battled well to hold on to the win. It's the kind of ground out win that successful seasons are built on.

EIEIEIfuckingO.

Not at our best, but it’s all about the 3 points.

It takes the pressure off for the  Burton  game - a win would be great, a draw would be fine, even a defeat wouldn’t be the end of our play-off hopes.

Big win today…. Onwards & upwards

He would have undoubtedly been even more magnificent than MJ but we'll never know :)

It's great when we aren't able to control the game, have to ride our luck, get a bit of help from the ref, concede easy chances to strikers who couldn't hit a cow's arse with a shovel and somehow manage to grind out a win at a stage of the season when all that really matters is the 3 points.

But IMO it's greater when we play brilliantly, outplay the opposition with the attractive football that Evatt says is "our way" and score plenty of goals to get the 3 points.

We could do with a bit more of that if only to make it easier on the old ticker.
