Other than his stint in charge, your going back over 60 years since its been other than Old Firm* *Dundee Utd won one title whilst he was in charge of Aberdeen

April 30Apr 30 No surprises about Scotg Parker though, tbh, I never got why he had the job in the first place. It'd be good to see an ownership one day say "he was on a hiding to nothing but he did all he could & we're sticking with him".

His record of getting clubs promoted from the championship probably played a part
April 30Apr 30 Parker's Burnley's defence was genuinely astonishing in the Championship. Then this year they have the worst defence in the PL!

Fairly sure every promotion was helped by parachute payments and/or having a shit hot squad for the championship - Fulham, Bournemouth, Burnley. It would be interesting to see him manage a "normal" club like a Bristol City or Millwall or come down to L1 and manage Barnsley etc.

May 3May 3 Eric still leaves Watford after 3 wins in 15 games. The 35-year-old Belgian was appointed on a two-and-half-year contract on 9 February following the resignation of predecessor Javi Gracia. Watford will now begin a search for their 15th head coach, not counting interim bosses, since September 2019.
May 3May 3 Wonder if Parky will keep his job at Disney now he’s failed to get them up after spending a shed load?

I thought the championship would be too much for them and he'd be gone around January with them in the bottom half. But fair play, they've done better than I thought and Parky will get another season

But fair play, they've done better than I thought and Parky will get another season They did buy some properly decent players. Few that would survive the Premiership but very, very solid Championship. Spent big on fees & big on salaries. I expect they'll get funds for a handful more. However, in FFP terms their direct football income is limited by their 12,000 max. attendance. The new stand, probably a full season off, will add 5,000-6,000 to that but their spending will still be too high.

They employ these managers then give them no time to actually implement their own ideas and bring in their own players. Just employ someone you have trust in and give them the bloody time to implement it. We all get wound up when our teams aren’t doing as well as we think they should and obviously frustrated with the manager but you have to give the guy a couple or three windows at least to get in the players he wants. A few months is just barmy.
