Maybe.

He was our captain, and quite young, so he must have some leadership qualities.

He captained us, in our best Premier days. Then captained Newcastle and West Ham. Was tied at the hip to BSA.

He'll have leadership skills alright.

I don't think be will at all.

A small club he saved from relegationast season and one that was doing quite well this.

Whether it just went stale, or lack of quality, the results haven't been as good.

That doesn't suddenly mean he isn't good enough.

In fact he will have gained more experience.

BSA was sacked by Blackpool, then ended up taking Notts County on an incredible promotion path, with a record winning margin.

The rest is history.

Nobby has played at the highest level, and may well do better with a higher quality of player, further up.

Either way, he has cut his teeth, and will definitely be considered for other roles, should he want them.

Good luck to him I'm sure he's capable of resurrecting his managerial career next season.

But he's been sacked by Orient, Notts County and Northampton, I just think it'd be a hard sell for a chairman to say he's the man for us.  Although to be fair there are some head scratching appointments along the lines of clubs taking on young coaches that nobody's heard of seemingly on the basis of you never know they might turn out OK.  They usually get about 4 months.  So yes I'd put Nolan above them with his experience in the game in various roles.

I think Sam was always considered unlucky to be sacked at Blackpool by Oysten, after finishing a point off automatics and he was always management material.

Nolan might have a longer career as a no.2 where he can use his coaching skills but still be matey with the players.

Wasn't it Oysten's missus who sacked him as Owen was in the nick after they ballsed the play offs up against Bradford?

Probably Owen still had a say in the day-to-day running though

Didn't Newcastle trust Nolan with getting Andy Carroll back on the straight and narrow?

Tudor beheaded by Spurs

What a disasterous appointment.

Actually sacked ladt weekend, but his father died so it's been kept under wraps a few days.

This. I know a couple down here and there's not a more self-entitled bunch of twats on this planet, with the possible exception of the rags of course.

Get them relegated.

Except maybe Wet Spam fans but frankly as long as one of them goes down I don’t really mind which.

They won't be used to a relegation battle, and some won't be up for it.

No doubt looking about for their next club should they want out.

I love it that these two posts followed one another. Defoe famously handing in his transfer request in the dressing room at St Andrews just after we'd sent them down.
