If you're the fan of a championship club you're looking at Evatt with constant progression on his CV. Young, bolshy and likes to play the right way etc.

5th and 3rd finishes with a team who nearly went bust a few seasons ago. Dragged us from bottom half of league 2 to 90 minutes or a few points from promotion...

Not many championship chairman will have been at Wigan or Blackpool away.

Phil Brown was Rioch's captain and Allardyce's Assistant. He took Hull into the Prem and kept them there for a while. We all know he made that half time sit down mistake and I'm sure he regrets that now... but if it had worked, every coach would have copied him. He also has "international" experience in India.

There was a really good interview with him in the Guardian a couple of months ago where he described how he turned a match around early in his current stint at Kidderminster... they were 2-0 down and won it 4-2 or something like that, his quote was "all the coaches at this level want to play like Man City but we sorted it at half time and found a way through"... got me thinking about our plight. I think Derby did a similar thing to us that week.

Also we could all do with a bit of a "lift" after recent events... we have a good bunch of players in the main but our tactics have been too naive and over predictable, they are over coached in just one methodology.

 

 

Brownie was on 5 Live Breakfast yesterday morning, I'm still trying to untwist the knots that he got my head into.  Great bloke, love his enthusiasm and passion for football (and BWFC) but my god he talks bollocks.  The interviewer asked one question (topic: 4 Prem managers left their jobs since last week - being a manager is a very insecure job) and Brownie went off on about 8 tangents, honestly he was talking drivel.

He said he expected Dave Challinor (Stockport) and Des Buckingham will get Prem jobs and that Moyes was hounded out by the fans and will be sought after by top clubs in Europe.   None football fans all over the country waking up to his ramblings that went on for ages (low news day clearly).

He ended by saying "when a young coach comes to me for advice (how often is that then?), I just tell him to be true to himself".  OK.

As I stated during my previous stint, I tired of Evatt's approach... it's like watching a column of Roman Centurions marching across the pitch without anyone breaking rank, we have a saying in our household "Is it Jerome o'clock yet (60 mins in)?". Anyone with the bottle to break ranks such as Dapo or even Declan John gets moved on.

That is why I stayed away this season, after hearing the spin from our resident Dingles about strength in depth and best team in the league and then signing Ndulu and Jerome I thought this is a right load of biz... but I did think I might have to eat my words after Christmas, I can't recall a manager getting a 12/12 full house!

Anyway what are the counter arguments regarding Mr Brown?

Stayed away from here, Bolton, BWFC or all 3?!

Seems a bit extreme when there have been far worse/more unbearable/far worse managers/less exciting/ periods in BWFCs history

Obviously Alladyce for us but it's not that common for me

I'm looking at the PL and seeing two managers who played for their clubs

I'm thinking of the most successful PL managers and I'm not getting any who played for them clubs

There is no good or logical reason to appoint PB
