Rowett’s reaction will be interesting given he was seen to be a bit of a shoe in

Hopefully the experiment goes to shit and they’re off the pace early on

Burnley on the verge of appointing Scott Parker.  Great news.

This is the only reason I know who Scott Parker is.

How fucking good must his agent be?

It's unbelievable

Two championship promotions out of two for freshly relegated teams

An easy sell to Burnley

I was just joking with my PNE mate on Friday that if they beat Sheff U they'd be top of the league and have bigger clubs coming for Lowe, and if they lost the fans would be hounding him out as they never liked him in the first place.  I didn't think it would actually happen!  Not sure who they expect to attract TBH, Lowe seemed to do as good as anyone could have done on their budget.

Loads of folks losing money after gambling on Rooney being the first one to go this season.

My shout for a surprise relegation from that league (pre the weekend loss). Bit early for sackings though!

Yes they've lost 2 of their best players (Browne now at Sunderland and Miller now at Hull) and haven't signed much, presume Lowe wanted money to spend and PNE didn't want to give it him this month, either because they haven't got much or they don't trust him with it.  I thought Lowe did a good job from the outside but PNE fans didn't warm to him and many wanted him out when they had a relatively poor 2nd half of last season.

Couple of good mates are PNE season ticket holders. Both a really sensible with their football views and neither have any expectation that they should be in the play offs etc.. I was surprised that neither particularly liked Lowe, I thought he’d have been a great appointment for them but they both just said it’s been really boring from the off, massively defensive and despite him saying that things would change and it was just a case of getting the right personnel, it never did and it just seemed like lip service.

They are relying on unearthing gems from some of the more obscure European leagues, and have had some success over the last season or two, but it’s a big gamble and like you say they’ve lost a couple of their best players.

Their natural position is somewhere between L1 and the Champ (IMO) so it wouldn’t surprise me to see them have a stint back in L1 if they aren’t getting the investment (think I’m right in saying their owner died and his family dont fancy bankrolling them to the same extent - sounds familiar!)
