You don't have to get pissed when you go out you know.

For what it's worth, I think the first thing that'll happen, is that Saudi will start to host prestige "finals" such as the the Champions/Europa League, they'll then pay for teams to play the odd home league game over there (in a similar, and equally bizarre, way that we have American Football games here in the UK) - this will then lead at some point to the European Super League that's been spoken about many times, and they'll have teams in that.

At some point soon, I'd expect the Saudi FA to become an "affiliate" or some other such nonsense of UEFA, and then it'll all start.

They've got all the money in the World and they'll happily chuck it at football, they don't give a fuck about local leagues, their own included probably - they want more of a "global game" as long as they're driving it.

They 100% will have teams in UEFA European competitions before the end of this decade (maybe start in that really shit one that West Ham won last year)

The American sports do it and play games abroad for money spinners.

10 games a season played around the world. Not sure Norwich vs Brentford will be the same draw as any of the 'big 6' but the financial will is there.

Same argument as has been made since game 39 was first mooted years ago only then it was who would want to watch something like Bolton v Charlton 😀

I still think it will happen in some form in future. Appeasing foreign markets with pre season friendlies disguised as officially branded Premier League tournaments will only go so far

And again, like having PL academy teams in the league system, I think there'd be protests but then apathy would take over.

Don’t do it because American sport is crap and we have our own thing.

Baseball and basketball are shit, NFL and ice hockey are lots of fun.

Game 39 is coming whether we like it or not playing them 1st all on one weekend ensures no impact on one team over the others.

Can you imagine the bitching from the scousers if Citeh play at home and they're away in LA the week before they play each other.

It seems I spoke too soon.

Saudi Tyneside United WILL be permitted to loan players from the bloated Saudi League.

How much have they bribed the PL to get this through ??

Premier League: Newcastle United clear to loan Saudi Pro League players after vote.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67490620

PL were against it, but the clubs allowed it to happen.

I’d imagine virtually all as they’ll be thinking the same thing long term. I believe Palace have a link up with Lyon now for example.

Seven voted in favour so probably

Newcastle, City, Chelsea, Brighton Man U if that Radcliffe bloke has had his say, Forest

@martynziegler

The seven clubs that blocked ban on signing loan players from partner teams were (according to sources) Newcastle, Sheff Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Everton, Wolves, Forest. Some other clubs angry that Saudi-owned Sheff Utd joined the opposition bloc.

Bloody hell, I thought we were only taking the piss out of him on here and he’s going and buying the fuckers 😀

Only 25% though

So presume the glazers still own 75%

And he wants to bring in Dougie Freedman as director

I'm sure as far as utd fans are concerned, this is the worst thing that could have happened in terms of a "takeover"

Football is gone now so this is mostly irrelevant. Newcastle bending the rules after City, Chelsea and others taking the piss out of FFP is just another horse that has bolted. Everton have been punished though🤷🏻‍♂️Watford loaning players from Italy was just allowed to happen and that was far more blatant. Meanwhile VAR is giving imaginary penalties for the big clubs and drawing the wrong lines for Wolves on another week. Fuck off!

There is always a bright side. Your lot can get players in from the Tampa Bay Buccs.

Henderson saying he's pretty unhappy over in the Saudi League.

Says the match attendances and lifestyle is taking it's toll.

Surprised he took the risk to be honest, especially with the Euros this year. With a contract to 2026, they won't sell him on the cheap.
