Probably a good job decisions aren't made on friendlies against a bunch of kids really.  We could read back comments from those cup games against U21s and there would be players in the 1st team now th

Surprised it's not being referred to as a different ground name all of a sudden.  Like I'd only ever heard of West Ham's ground referred to as Upton Park all my life.  Suddenly it was the Boleyn Ground in its last season.

Talking of grounds getting a new name, first time this week I'd noticed Wrexham no longer play at the Racecourse Ground.  They've decided they speak Welsh now, so (including the sponsor name) its now the SToK Cae Ras, according to Sky.

Growing up I was a bit obsessed with seeing football grounds - either from going to games or while on family holidays in England or Scotland (plenty of pics of me inside grounds in 80s summers...Dumbarton, Ayr, Norwich, Hull etc!).  But its disappointing they all look identikit now, and the lack of terraces makes them less appealing.

I prefer to see non league grounds as they have generally not been modified and so retain character and originality (not many better than Chorley).

At what age do you start comparing boats?

An affectation on behalf of Ryan Reynolds & the other one. I can assure you none of the fans call it that unless a camera is pushed at them.

Cae Ras is Welsh for Race Field and the stadium is sponsored by STōK Cold Brew Coffee. Another of Reynolds money makers.

In Victorian times the fields there were used for point-to-point horse races.

Reynolds is one of the best marketeers in the world - he's not an actor. This club is another piece of great branding and the money from streaming covers a lot of the costs plus he gets to look like a really nice chap.

It's a great story that people will buy into. He's not daft and it benefits the town and the club but once the ride is over, and no one is interested, then the club will go backwards.

He has acknowledged that the way it is funded cannot continue as they go up the leagues, and as the rules tighten.

Hence the need for ground expansion.

If they don't go up this season, I wonder what that will mean for the spending subsequently, and whether some cost cutting will be required?

We selling tickets for that??

I'd be interested to go for a nosey at that place as much as anything else

Everton season ticket holder ballot only

Well that's disappointing.

Thanks for answering though 👍

Ah hah.  Schuey mentioned an interim fixture to give some folks a run out.  Must be this given his Everton connections.  Expect Rico, Demps and that Cardiff lad to feature?

Not if we stuff 'em.

No league game for 2 weeks, I bet some of the first team would love to get a game, probably the only chance any current Bolton player will get to play there.

No chance in front of a crowd as big as that

Surprised they invited us after the house brick throwing incident 😉

Schumacher will be making sure he’s running his eye over the B:Team that day 😊

To be fair he probably would have done had it been Fleetwood away, with Santos, Dempsey and Etete being lined up to play

During the second half there will be a full evacuation of the stadium. At that point the game will end and everyone will go home. This is to get a safety certificate.

Heard that Schuey has already spoke to The Ev about a list of players avaialble for loan next season, this a chance for him to see some in the flash against his lads.

If you go up, expect 1 of the more higher rated players coming to Bolton.

I think this is a quality touch from the Toffees , didnt they "open" both our most recent grounds ?

Yeah, it's a shame it's not one we can buy tickets for as I'd have been very tempted to go and have a look

Yeah I would have fancied that too . Maybe they would have grumbled at away fans going when home fans are missing out etc.

probably but surely it can’t be a true test of a grounds suitability without away fans being present

No ground should be given a safety certificate until they've played a game against Millwall or Leeds in which the ref gives a last minute decisive penalty to EFC.
