Maghoma does the one thing non of our other players do. Takes the ball on the half turn. When a team is expecting us to just play across them so they sit in he’s the one who breaks in between their banks

hard to do with Thomasson’s form at the min but his is the only spot Dempsey is looking at

Hes like Frandsen turning in a tight spot.

I'm still not totally sold on him. Thomason has become our number 1 midfielder - but I also think Dempsey and Morley will have something to say about that when they get a start too.

Great position to be in

Always easy to say "everyone was great" when we win 7-0, I may have even said the same in my youth when it last happened, but Vic wasn't great today.  He was good in the first 10 minutes, really got involved and did some decent lay offs etc, then reverted to type, being easily dispossessed and having no strength at all.  Poor again, and once again JDB streets ahead of him.  JDB will start against Harrogate and Port Vale but I'd prefer if he could sit those games out and play at Oxford and Pompey.

Cogley was very average today too, wasteful in possession and unable to execute some simple passes.

Everyone else excellent after the 1st half hour, a lot of 8 out of 10 performances but Maghoma provided the best moments and great cameo from Dempsey and loved Dan's assist, goal and celebration!

Cogley IMO was excellent second half. The link with Jones created havoc down the right.

When did we last win 7-0?

That Swindon game was also 0-0 after half an hour, 2-0 at H-T and 3-0 after 55.  But we were still only 3-0 after 80 minutes v Swindon, so it could be argued the result flattered us, with a late flurry of 4 goals in 8 minutes.  Today 7-0 flattered Exeter, it was a total drubbing from 30 minutes onwards with goals every 10 minutes or so.

Dempsey is miles off Thomassons current level

Big miles

Without wanting to complicate things or sound like a manager, our midfield will rotate as a 3 alot to suit games.

Some very energy rich teams will suit Dempsey, Thomason and Paris. Good luck outworking them 3

Our away record is superb, I honestly think we'll fair well away.

Did Allardyce team who went up to the prem win about 14 aways? Can see this lot matching that.

Yes I'm in booze but I fancy us away more than at home this season

Our away record is great but as a betting man I'd be wanting a bit more evidence of games against teams in form.  Of all the teams we've played, only Charlton have anything like form.

Obviously that will be redressed with the next 2 aways, but for now its hard to say, if we'd not lost at Reading it would be almost perfect but a bit too early to say without more evidence for me.

I find it amazing people can't be arsed to applaude them off after a performance like today while accepting some have places to go or unfirm on their feet.

I get that people have places to go, kids to pick up, evening committments etc.  What amazes me is when I watch other teams on TV not one of their fans seems to have any committment that day beyond watching their team!  Anfield looks full until the 100th minute as an example, do they have no pubs to go home to?

That's fair - time will tell. I honestly feel we've got the best squad in the league though and all are fit give or take Johnston so no excuses. Let's really see where we are

I didnt see it coming but some were so critical of him, they ought to be big enough to apologise

Hes way, way, better than I thought he could be

Pretty certain I said it after the Wigan debacle that Thomasson was the must pick midfielder to give us some steel

Agreed, our squad looks quality when the likes of Forrester, Mendez Gomez and Ashworth hardly play.  But are we good enough to go to Barnsley, Blackpool, Peterboro, Wigan and be better than them?  Maybe, we just don't know yet, we haven't been tested.

Looking forward to finding out - especially Peterbrough where we'll win the league hahs

It is a tough one, earlier in the season with a broken back Dempsey was our best midfielder IMO

Legohead and Paris have been brilliant during current run. Sheehan was not really needed today. Chuck in Morley and we have 5 who could all be starters. They are all a little bit different.

Not sure if CMG is classed as a midfielder ?

One of the pinnacle days watching this club (booing at 7-0 for not passing forward 😀) all I could think about at the end was my friends and you lot. We've been through so much shit, on the pitch and off it. Been to fucking Plymouth and back getting beat to nil.

Top day, top night. Enjoy 🤍💙

Indeed.

Almost exactly  4 years ago we were at one of our lowest points, getting bummed 7-1 by fucking Accrington Stanley.

My cousin was playing for Port Vale when they beat us 6-3 in COVID times. Remember him saying he looks a bit mad but he's got something about him. I agreed. He's got better and better since.

Strange that today I hardly noticed Sheehan in general play (and yes he totally created the 2nd goal).  But over the last few months he has been by some margin our best midfielder, IMO.  Today we score 7 and he was anonymous for much of it, the ball simply didn't come to him much, for whatever reason.  (The first half hour seemed to be Toal, Tomo and Iredale swapping passes without going far and the front 2 taking turns to lose possession).  Winning a league game 7-0 without many of our players being at their best and our keeper never handling the ball, that has to be a first.
