Waiting for the 'should have scored more' or 'Evatt not good enough to get us out of this division'? Not tonight?

My only concern is peaking too early. I didn't want us to become the hunted until late January.

Clearly going up. Only question is will it be as champions? The man from Del Monte, he say................

Spot on pal 👏.

I would love @Zog1 to come back on here when things are going well.

One of his classics (amongst a whole sea of drivel)

“I know thinking doesn't gel well with the happy clappers” 🤣

As for GT he’s playing a different role in the team which suits him he was never a DM.

I actually think this transformation of him being a 6 to an 8 is adding to his overall game. He could (very quickly now with how he is maturing) become our most complete midfielder.

Yesterday he was everything 6/8/10. I think he was given licence to go wherever he wanted. One minute he was in the box looking to get on the end of things, next minute he was picking the ball up deep in his own half.

At one point I thought Evatt had switched him and Sheehan around, but watching him specifically for about 10 mins, confirmed he was was all over the pitch! Whether that was of his own doing or by instruction I’m not sure.

He was immense yesterday.

Our away record is great but as a betting man I'd be wanting a bit more evidence of games against teams in form.  Of all the teams we've played, only Charlton have anything like form.

Obviously that will be redressed with the next 2 aways, but for now its hard to say, if we'd not lost at Reading it would be almost perfect but a bit too early to say without more evidence for me.

No away game is easy. Charlton were well in form and Shrewsbury are strong at home. Of course the next two will be tough, but I think you're being harsh on what we've done so far away.

Strange that today I hardly noticed Sheehan in general play (and yes he totally created the 2nd goal).  But over the last few months he has been by some margin our best midfielder, IMO.  Today we score 7 and he was anonymous for much of it, the ball simply didn't come to him much, for whatever reason.  (The first half hour seemed to be Toal, Tomo and Iredale swapping passes without going far and the front 2 taking turns to lose possession).  Winning a league game 7-0 without many of our players being at their best and our keeper never handling the ball, that has to be a first.

Sheehan got absolutely man marked all over the place by their number 16. Literally like his shadow.

edit: beaten to it

Classic example of why you don't necessarily remove your marked man from the game. So long as he keeps moving, and others likewise, then it can pull the opposition apart, and that's exactly what happened.

Really enjoy the highlights (extended) where you can analyse the build up, and really appreciated the movement, vision and awareness of players.

The freedom maghoma and Thomasson got was due to how Exeter approached it. They had a bank of 6 defenders at one point in the first half hour then a further 3 strung across the middle. Not hard to have the freedom of midfield when they don’t want to go near you. After the 3rd they just fell apart and one of those days that we’ve been meaning to have for a long while

Got to agree with @Tonge moor green jacket here @Johnnyrotten

Added to Shrewsbury & Charlton, you can throw in Wycombe (they were in form having won 3/4 previous games and we’d had a terrible record previously) and Port Vale (who were 4th at the time and above us)

So I think to say “Of all the teams we've played, only Charlton have anything like form” to underplay our away form/record is a bit harsh.

I do agree that it’s intriguing & exciting to see what will happen against Pompey/Oxford.

But I think if we come away from those 2 games with 2 points or more it will establish and confirm that our away record/form is a massive part of where we are/where we will be - right at the top primed for promotion.

If on the early train I might nick a few minutes to make sure I get on platform

Some yesterday was with 15-20 mins left

Aye thats a bit ridiculous. My old man sets off on 88 as it takes him 3 years to get to car and its safer without the hustle and bustle.

Think its like a chain reaction. Folk see folk leaving and think fuck I'm gonna stuck if I dont get off.

It is really shit to see. But youd hope if they sorted the traffic out it may prompt folk to stay.

Stop letting the busses off!

Fair comment on Shrewsbury, they don't lose many at home and of our 7 away opponents, they have the most home points (19), Charlton next best on 16.  The other 5 have won a maximum of 3 home games, I don't think its underplaying our excellent away form to suggest there may be tougher tasks to come?

In comparison our home games have seen a more even spread of games against teams with good and poor away records, 5 against top half that we've got 10 points from and 5 against bottom half (12 points).

That would explain Sheehan's lack of direct involvement, well spotted @Tonge moor green jacket and @matty2094.  It definitely gave others more space and possession, and Tomo and Maghoma flourished as everyone has noted.

It’s a shame you can’t turn left out of the car park near the hotel to ease congestion at the roundabout

That and it being left only from scotts and police station.  Sending 2 car parks worth of traffic down to a bottle neck loaded with another load coming from the main carparks then it all gets stopped to let busses off.

Its absolute madness.

Shrewsbury have a GD of -15

Must have taken some hammerings on the road

Fair enough, yes some teams have appeared to be in form before we've played them, in the case of Vale and Wycombe their form seems to have fallen off a cliff since we played them and in hindsight they weren't the toughest games we'll face (I never thought Vale would stay near the top but I'm surprised at Wycombe's poor form).

2 points would be acceptable from the next 2 aways but it also depends how the games go, if we're 2 up like we have been in other games we'll be gutted with draws, if we're 2 down and come back we'll be bouncing...looking forward to seeing how we perform against them anyway.

2 pts I am expecting at least 4 minimum !
