yeah "we won"

but the side lacked balance and important players like Foden and Kane were pretty anonymous and TAA didn't look like a midfielder, so I'm not sure it went to plan based on the starting line up

so it will be interesting to see if

a) GS tweaks the line up for the next game to look to get those who didn't play well more involved

b) he sticks with the same line up and makes it absolutely clear to the players this is how are playing and training focuses on getting these players to perform better in that system

c) he thinks "we won" so doesn't change anything and approaches the next game in the same way he approached last night

C is not going to get us far in the tournament

None of those things have happened yet. If he does go with C and we win again on Thursday, then what?

no, that's why I said it will be interesting to see what happens next

if C happens again I will stick to my assertion that we aren't going to go far in the tournamment

as in further than any other English team has been on foreign soil

How were we fortunate?  What luck went our way?

Luck being winning when playing shite

Fortunate being playing a team what on balance deserved something from the game

Nah, bollocks.  Serbia deserved nothing from the game.  Yes, they gave a good account of themselves and made things hard for us, but they created no chances of note whatsoever.

We will certainly have to play much better than last night if we want to win this tournament, but, as always, there's a huge overreaction.  We were not lucky in any way.  We should've won the game 2-0,

Did you miss Pickford save, some dangerous crosses late on that no one got on the end of, they were far more dangerous than us second half, no one without rose tinted glasses would have said they didn’t deserve a point.

The routine one from a shot from outside of the area?

Crosses that nobody got on the end of?

If Serbia were Bolton we'd all be saying we deserved nothing from the game because we created nothing.

Rubbish, they created a number of chances, as I said couple of dangerous crosses, mitrovic shaved the post, Pickford tip over the bar,  there’s backing GS and some more going on here. We were gash!

Kane header???

Hits the bar, bounces down and out, unfortunately.

But not as close as a potshot and routine save?

🙄

But a better attempt than we had bar the goal.

So a pot shot from 20 yards is more of a chance than Kane's header that he should've buried??

There’s being ant-GS and some more going on here.

Again, I don't see anybody saying we were good last night.

But, as always, it has to be one extreme or another.  🙄

Yes, we were poor, but we still deserved to win.

Careful

You'll get accused of knowing more than the manager with talk like that

Biggest disappointments last night were Kane (I'd say that was down to an excellent job done on him by their centre half) but do you take your talisman/all time top scorer off if he's not injured? Foden was ineffective especially with the right footed Trippier at LB we were very lopsided. TAA played some nice passes but hasn't enough practice playing cm to do it in an international tournament.

Foden and Trent out and Gallagher/Mainoo and Eze (I'd have said Grealish but he's getting spannered in beefa with Wayne Lineker.)

If we'd won 6-0, I'm sure there'd still be things that could have been done better. It's football, not engineering or medical science. All that matters is winning. It's amazing to me that you think you know better than the actual manager. After a win. Blows my mind.

So you never thought against Oxford where things went wrong?

Or did you just think I don't know more than the manager so don't have a clue?

We were fucking awful against Oxford, but I don't think it was Evatt's fault.

You missed out all of.

Fair enough. Much like last night's mediocre performance wasn't all Southgate's fault. Managers can only do so much.

I mean, that looks like our badge but definately didn't look like any English involved in that 30 second chair throwing contest.   One bloke had red jeans on for god sake

Bollocks nah.We were lucky to win against a average team if we play like that against Denmark we will lose.Think you might be wearing red, blue and white specs .Serbia out played us for a good 50 minutes,at the moment I have zero hope we will win it unless we improve Massively .Let's just hope we do

Outplayed us for 50 minutes yet created no chances.

I'm hardly looking at it through red, blue and white specs - Have you missed where I have said numerous times we were poor? I agree that we'll not win it unless we improve massively.
