I think it has a better balance. I wouldn’t be disappointed with it

                     Pickford

           Walker.  Stones.  Konsa

TAA.        Mainoo.       Rice.       Saka

                    Jude.  Foden

                         Kane

Saka has been gash this tournament. Eze did well defensively and covered a lot of ground but not much going forward. Palmer, Gordon and Bowen and Watkins (in the earlier game) all showed the attacking intent we expect and Toney held the ball up well and got an assist. There has to be a way of improving England but it increasingly looks like the system rather than the players. Apart from Saka and maybe Kane. But I wouldn't drop Kane.

Somehow, with all this talent at his disposal, Southgate has to find a way to make England an attacking team - because that's playing to our strengths.  Needs to be braver.

We have an average defence but a top attack. Use it FFS.

That'd be better with Watkins seeing as you may as well write Kane 4 times over the top of Jude Foden Mainoo and either full back position :)

Love Declan Rice but has been way too deep this tournament basically sitting in centerback positions for the most part. Another reason why we're having difficulty in linking play. He's been doing the bare minimum outside of his defensive work.

Big games big players.

I think that formation with Bellingham and Foden behind Kane suits us better and (should) allow Kane to stay up top  and not drop back as much.

Aye agree but that's not Kanes game now. He can't lead the line, I'd be having 2 up top so he can do his number 10 stuff and get another mon in behind or play with proper wingers on their right sides so they can get away on the overload.

Just can't see Kane sticking to the plan and staying up top. He was bloody Infuriating on Sunday :(

Problem is Southgate believes in his 1 system and never changes if he makes subs it’s like for like unless desperation prevails ( sounds like another manager we know ) and that’s the problem great managers make subtle changes throughout the game Southgate doesn’t he’s a good man manager but shit tactically! Case in point Italy in the final!

...and Croatia and France.

Worst was Sunday for me though. We were bang in Icealnd 16 territory if not worse. He watched the clock tick down and didn't even flinch. It was like a slow painful death.

How the fuck he got away with that is a miracle. Just hope it was a massive wake up call but I doubt it.

It's like the opening scene in Saving Private Ryan, chaos going on around him and he's just stood there staring blankly inside his own head not reacting to anything or anyone.

He’s clueless, as his his little side kick. We are relying on luck or an outstanding contribution from one of our top players to win a game because 9/10 Southgate gets outthought and tactically humbled.

I really hope the rumours of three (or five) at the back are true ... because what has been implemented so far has been shite.

Exactly this. City as an example, often start with 4 in defence but Stones or another "defender" then step into midfield allowing the other midfielders to push on. We seem to be doing the complete opposite with Rice stepping backwards into defence. Which pretty much leaves us with 2 fewer players in midfield than City have. No wonder we can't get anything happening going forward.

from what ive seen of our defenders, none of em can be trusted with the ball

its no wonder he has defenders deep as theyre a second from fucking up

goid knows how stones plays for city if he plays like this for them

I think saka hasn't been at his best but he's constantly got two men on him because the opposition knows everything is going down the right. He's pressed straight away.

I think a back three makes more sense for the personnel now but I'm not sure he will change it up mid tournament.

We have played 3 at the back before, and Trent would be able to be included which I think would help, but radical changes to the system aren't Southgate's MO.

This is the rumoured line up.

I can't see it but we live in hope.

Foden as the 10 is what we're crying out for

he's miles ahead of bellers in that position

Trouble is Kane. He wants number 10 too. He's the biggest problem at this tournament for me.

I like that too.

Doesn't worry me so much about someone just off him, as he is comfortable dropping a bit and playing an over lapping player or his partner through. Creating the "hole", particularly is we're up against a packed defense.

I would not oppose this
