Ronaldo will continue to be the dog’s while he’s playing in front of 17,000 sandy a-rabs who are paying him gazillions .

17000- do they get that many at the Stadio del camel jockey?

There's going to be a manager in a few years that will be hailed as the second coming for introducing a revolutionary style of playing that involves not passing it out from the back and wingers that play on their correct sides and like to beat full backs to the byline and get crosses in.

Oh definitely. Someone is going to pioneer a little and large strike partnership as well.

"Makelele role" surely due a comeback soon.

In fact, it's time for the libero 😀

Football moves in cycles- always somebody- a pioneer to break the mould. Some will try and reinvent the wheel, some will revert to type… the best ones will evolve, bring something old and something new

Average about 17k according to TansferMarkt (so pinches of salt are available). I looked it up to see if the camel botherers got more than us

Camel botherers > Donkey lashers

Germany were robbed but Spain have maintained it better than I thought they could. Bedlam around here last night. Even the locals are expecting the wheels to come off. Not met a 'blind faith' one yet - they all express doubts.

Will be an interesting game against the French taking into account suspensions etc. France been totally uninspiring but you keep getting the feeling that they will click at any time. They don't concede. Great defences win championships.

Mbappe looks like the injury has him playing with fear.

Englands path Switzerland, Netherlands(?), France?  Looks like Becher's Brook, Canal Turn and The Chair at the moment.

Looks like Trippier has the nod at RWB over Trent as he has “more defensive nous”

he’s already got 3 CB’s and 2 defensive midfielders on the pitch and finally worked out a way to get Trent in there where he can cause damage where you want him to..

honestly, Southgate cannot fucking help himself.

May have been posted already but France into the semis without scoring a goal from open play

2 OG’s within that 3 too

That’s impressive

At least if we go three at the back he's not going with what we did in the previous 4 games.

I'd probably go Trent over trippier but it's not a deal breaker.

My issue is will Foden, kane and bellingham be on top of each other? ....maybe but it's still got to better than the previous 4 games of utter shite.

What score are we going for today?

I get your point re defensive approach, but Trippier is also good going forward and whips in a mean cross too.

Yeh he is but Southgate has cracked on over the last 12 months trying to shoe horn Trent in to the side. Sometimes to the detriment of it, in order to get his obvious quality in creating opportunities in to his side. He finally stumbles upon on obvious solution where Trent’s weaknesses defensively could be mitigated by having a defensively sound and more importantly quick CB in behind him. Allowing him in practice to cause the damage further up that Southgate wanted him to do all along. But, yet again, his natural urge to be super cautious and choose someone who is more defensively minded at the detriment of what we can gain offensively overrides his decision making

Fair enough. He is captain negative for sure.

Could be anything - depends largely on how we set up and who is picked.

For me the key thing is that we have some fantastic forwards and attacking midfielders so you'd think/hope we'd set up to play to our fucking strengths.

But we haven't played to our strengths at all yet and none of the opposition teams have had the fear of God put into them by our attack - which is what I'd have expected us to focus on when this competition started.

No idea what will happen.

They've been over cautious like England.

Whoever plays them must surely be thinking of putting an "accidental" stray hand or shoulder into Mbappe's face in the first five minutes? Lad's already shitting himself.

How many times have we said that here though and nothings changed? The formation and pissing around at the back will be just the same as it has been in the previous games because that’s the managers choice just as it is with IE. We all hope to see something different but the system is so engrained into them that they’re incapable of adapting in case it’s thrown back at them when adapting works.

You're probably right, but the desperation of having to throw on subs at the end of games to save the situation can't have escaped Southgate's attention - and as it's been all over the media he knows that if we go out doing the same old shit he will be slaughtered.

So why was Saliba casually playing with his bare willy whilst sat amongst his teammates? :D

Fabulous stuff from James Blunt! 😂😂
