Worst moments

I referenced this in the other thread. This was my reaction at our hotel in Reading after the 7-1 thrashing in 2014. I didn’t wreck the hotel but my wife (who didn’t go to the match) thought I’d gone mental.
Stoke (semi final) and Aldershot (playoffs) are up there.

I’m still mulling over the best bits, but I can easily tell you my the worst- suppose that’s the pessimist in me.    Burnden- Black Sunday; after slapping Boro thought we had a real chance-

I've seen Watford mentioned a few times here and I've been thinking 'glad I skipped that'. Turns out I went (photographic evidence sent by my mum last night) but I have absolutely no recollection of i

Reading & accy not pleasant

Stoke (twice) and Accrington

Doubt anything is worse than Oxford at Wembley, but the 2nd battering off Wigan was close.

The so called Black Sunday (did I say I hate Sunday matches?) when United put six past us😩 My next door neighbour (Red) came to our front window, pissed, with a bag of chips in his hand trying to put 6 fingers up before he fell over. I closed the curtains.

That utd defeat will take some beating in terms of lack of effort and ability.

The aldershot game was just a gradual drop down the gurgler- Felgate's injury seemed to be just another indicator of the inevitable.

Play off final in 99 another insipid performance this time against Watford 0-2, that still rankled until this year's debacle.

For pure humiliation the Stoke 5-0 (I thought we had a good chance) and the United 6-0 (capitulated in the last 20 minutes) take some beating.

Fuckin ell lads I'm depressed enough on a Sunday night :D

😊 Remember, the bad times make the good times even better. 👍

That time I forgot about the yoghurt at the back of the fridge & it went out of date!

Most defeats, I'm over em by bedtime but Stoke and Oxford Wembley games had a long lasting effect on me.  Still not over the latter yet.

Only ones that come close are those 2 home games v Wigan and that 2-5 at theirs. A really horrible atmosphere as well as a limp wristed performance with Remi Matthews feck up meant I was driving home by about 4.15pm.

Reading was just laughable.

Accrington was just surreal and I don’t think I’ve ever actually accepted that it happened.

I guess it’s easier to move on when there’s another game the following week, but Christ I’ve never been in such a mood for such a prolonged period time as after the Oxford play-off final.

Never had you down as a ‘best before’ type of bloke. We had noses before bar codes😊

Remember the QPR plastic pitch disaster 7-0 or 7-1 i can't remember, 0-3 at home to Darlington on bommy night, but for me the most disappointing pi$$ weak performance was 2-2 at home to Birmingham when we should have sent them down, it was nothing to us and we were 2 up, hideous!!!

I had £50 on us and it was before cash out… yes it was hideous.

That Southampton cup game in the early 90s. Darby putting us in the lead near the end and then Felgate somehow letting Horne beat him from about 35 yards. Proper sickener.

I was in the stand that night and saw the flight of the ball. It swerved and dipped and I thought Felgate did well to get anywhere near it. That match more than any other showed how you can go from a high to a low so quickly. Fantastic turnout from us for a midweek game so far away. 👍

Was there for this

Cup games, holdsworts villa, pattersons oldham and felgates southampton def hurt

But league games that decide the next 12 months are miles worse, so for that reason, charlton, chelsea and stoke, watford, tranmere and  oxford

Cpl of late season fuck ups under greaves, carlisle and york still remembered too

Stoke when we were relegated was way worse imo

Came out of the ground “knowing” that QPR had beaten the Massives. Ho hum. Get on the kids ‘n’ flids knowing that the score that day was irrelevant. Then finding out the real score

Me and the youngest were front row right in the middle of the goal. THAT header just needed to go in

Never felt worse after a game

Oh no!

When I opened it, there was that much mold, it jumped out & ran across the kitchen tops!

Proper upset, it was a cherry one, my favourite!

Took months of counselling to get over it!

Oxford. Fucking pathetic.

Lowest was accy. Couldn’t get pitch side for our goal. Had carlsberg sprayed in my face. Then watched them hit us for 7. I challenge anyone there to find a worse game.

I met my then girlfriend (now my wife) who’s from the south east and we went to that game, pretty sure it was on a Friday night. The first time she’d seen us play and she wasn’t impressed to say the least. It all turned out well though because she supports Bolton now.
