I think Evatt will be here for quite a while yet, but if and when he does go, I just can't see FV hiring and out-of-work manager

Or an "old school" manager

I don't think it's their style

  • Think that's Ian's job

  • Seriously, he’s reached his level. He’s been outthought by lots of other coaches from teams with a fraction of our budget. Can’t really add to that, it’s a bit basic, Sharon?

As has been mentioned above. Older ones like me remember the Phil Neal days. I loved Phil Neal. He got us out of a world of shit. Took us from the depths of despair to something more respectable. But

Meh. Apathy strikers again

Just looking at availabile coaches, Steve Davis, rowat, Steve Bruce, mowbray, Ryan lowe, Paul Ince, Nigel Pearson. There's not many appealing names out there.

I'd personally never heard of the Pompey, Oxford or new Brum boss, had many??

Sheehan will never work in that system.

I honestly do not know what formation we played today. It 5 at the back then 5 elsewhere .

Evatt has spent money on a left back who looks lost. Lots of money on McAtee who looks lost. He spent a fortune for this level on Collins and apparently turned down over £1m for Vic and we start with Dempsey in a forward role ahead of two of them.

Yes but he's a different player this season, have you not been paying attention.

Btw how bad was Collins miss ?

31st of August.

4 league games, 2 League Cup.

Won 2, drawn 2, lost 2. Hardly the stuff of burn-out.

But " We look tired & fatigued".

What a crock of shit. What we have are players uncertain of their roles, square pegs, nervous of making mistakes, falling out with each other, not believing in what's being asked of them but scared of voicing their concerns to a didactic man who is not tolerant of people questioning his approach.

If they're tired, it's not physical, it's due to stress from all the above.

Sheehan eh. Must be nice to so be shit at your job and no matter how bad you are for around a year or so your position is absolutely guaranteed

Just curious about which managers are available out there to replace IE and who would realistically come.

Maybe it takes a word from Sharon to say this shit ain't working, change the system and he has to?

I don't know the inner workings of a football club, so this is just an idea.

But I'd like to see people's manager shortlists

Firstly that's not our job.  If IE left for a better job Sharon and co would find someone, I don't think they'd be saying "well that's us nackered, what happens now?".

There are employed managers doing well eg at Crawley, Stockport, Oxford that would see us as a step up.  There are some unemployed eg Richardson, Lowe, Ainsworth, Rowett.  There are those we've never heard of like what Pompey, Oxford, Ipswich and arguably Luton did.  I'm not advocating any of these names, that's the job of the professionals to interview and recruit the best man for the job.  BWFC will have a "next manager" the issue isn't how we find one but when the process starts.

Nothing to add about today clueless gutless performance and that’s just the manager time for a change before we end up in a relegation scrap !

If the excuse is tiredness then that sits with the management and coaching staff, we are 4 games into the season FFS with very few international players.

Something is broken at the moment, no one looks up for the fight and as much as I have defended Evatt this has to sit at his feet. We need leadership on the pitch and the touchline and both are lacking. 4 more games for me, and no obvious sign of improvement and he needs to go

I'm sorry to say this but Schon hasn't done anything to warrant being signed, it looks like a strange signing.  Full back?  Not strong enough.  LWB?  Not got the engine and doesn't take his man on.  Winger?  Clearly not, has he crossed a ball yet?  Baffling to spend so big on a player to replace 2 that we've let go who have more to their game.

100% agree ....he is average at best more a steady eddie.....I said he did nothing wrong, but if you see in other posts i also said Desmond gets down the line and is a better option than Schon.

Also said Matete is way ahead of Sheehan at the moment.

Baxter went back to rolling the ball out to Santos today unlike midweek when Southwood used Johnston instead

Anyway has he gone

Not sure how the fans would welcome Challinor, but he would be first choice Alex Neil or the manager at Lincoln Skubala

A  wildcard would be Lindsey at Crawley

All with the premise that Nolan gets offered a  coaching role

Aye, that players are tired shit is pathetic. Season's just started, proper piss weak mentality.

It's little wonder we fold at the first sign of adversity

The tiredness point is actually a case to change managers. Remember Mourihino being described as a 'mood magnet' when he was at best and up beat it lifts everyone around him, when it goes to shit he is awful.

We have all worked with people who on a good day make work more enjoyable and others who make everything hard work. Not sure if is the same as 'lost the dressing room' but a manager is not getting the best from his players it means he ain't doing his job.

I find it incredible that people end up with the excuse not to sack him is because no one is out there better than him.

Bollocks. There’s plenty of managers better than Evatt that would jump at the chance of managing us. Everyone in the fanbase knows this squad is good enough to go up, a manager with some nous will get us out this division with this squad.

For what it’s worth, my choice of replacement would be Alex Neil. He’s got plenty of experience and knows how to get out of this division and the one above.

Evatts not going anywhere until at least 10 games in. The board have backed him and will want to save face, sacking him after 4 games wouldn’t be a good look. If things continue on this track then he will leave by mutual consent at some point next month imo.

We’ve been in a similar situation multiple times under IE and he’s always managed to find a solution and turn results around… this time just feels a little different, he genuinely looks like he’s depressed and has no clue what to do anymore.

This set of players we have is up there with the best in the division but for some reason they play like strangers, which suggests to me that they’ve lost faith in the system, manager and his ideas.

The likes of Richie Wellens will be licking their lips at the current situation here

All that pissing about Baxter, Santos , Baxter Santos boot and repeat is like early last season and contributed to Santos loss of form. Crowd gets on his back like today and he’ll really struggle.

He's already knackered four games in.

I got absolutely pilloried on here for first suggesting "League 1 Team of the Season" Sheehan needed to be dropped and now it seems like there's a bandwagon of folk want him benched, so just stir it up a bit more I'll say that there is a role for Sheehan but not in any of the (2?) systems Evatt has tried.

Somebody mentioned that they thought that Evatt may have picked today's team to give the old guard an opportunity to show they've still got it (I paraphrase) and I think there's some truth in that somewhere - he's got to keep the whole squad on board - but by the time the tactical ineptitude of leaving George as the only combatative genuine midfielder on the team forcing Demps and others to drop what they were supposed to be doing to help out had sunk in we were 2 nil down.

You did, and I was one of them. Maybe it was the way you said it, but i agree with you on this point.

Sheehan is a quality player for this division, however right now in this system he is looking poor. Either he has lost faith or he isn't getting the service and protection to shine, either way he is a shadow of the player we know he can be. I think he is quality, and a player you should build a team around, but this system and formation looks to be killing him. I cant remember many positive, forward passes he made today!

There’s only Thomason who’s making anything like a positive forward pass, and it was a similar case on Tuesday.

Trouble is, there’s nobody out wide to give it to as they inevitably turn back inside or backwards, and the front three are falling over each other (quite literally sometimes) not to get the ball.

That's the killer,

They're all decent players but somethings had that skill and killer instinct taken out of them.

Some of GTs passing was Sunday league standard yesterday, had an absolute shocker.

Wouldn’t be the first time under Evatt our (arguably) best player is nullified and becomes the victim of his obsession to set the team up in a particularly robotic way.

part of his job is to get his best players on the pitch and make them as effective as possible. We all know what happened with Dapo, the only real 1 player we had who could create something out of nothing, beat a man and breakdown a defensive opposition. He failed there

Now he’s doing it with Sheehan. Exposing him in a midfield 2, and ultimately leaving the job Sheehan is good at, collecting the ball and trying to dictate our play, to some gormless fucking idiot in the centre of our back 3 who isn’t a great footballer to start with. It’s absolutely idiotic

But he would much rather plough on with this than acknowledge he’s been wrong

Not giving him a free pass because he was as poor as the rest of them, but if you’re the only one trying to make those passes then it’s inevitable there’s going to be a higher percentage going astray.

With two wing backs and three front men, it should be a doddle for the midfield to pick out passes to get in behind but they’re simply not making the runs.
