I moved round at HT and know what you mean, was quite patchy. Bloody loads of tourists in there too, I guess taking advantage of watching a cheap game in London

Stood near us where a couple of Chinese tourists, they didn't have a clue what was going on, how they ended up in the away end I have no idea. They looked resplendent in their half and half scarves though

Walking back to Finsbury Park, a few of theirs were doing the “what do you think of Tottenham” thing and added a second verse of “what do you think of Wigan”. Which was nice.

Goal 4 - Probably the only one where you have to give real credit to Arsenal.  Great play from Saka, but Southwood should've done better.

I appreciate the days of White Hot are long gone and it's now nigh on impossible for 3rd Division players to compete with the elite, it's just a bit frustrating that it was down to our basic errors rather than their brilliance.

 

Anyway, I'm glad those that made the journey got to see us score a goal, and what a well taken goal it was.  But I'm glad this is out of the way now and we can solely focus on the job in hand which is moving up the table.

hopefully we could make those same mistakes most weeks in div 3 and no harm done

just on 3, it was an iffy pass, but what a fucking dreadful response from forino - he just shit himself - if youre going to shit it, don't put it into the centre of the pitch, ffs

Agreed, there aren't many goals that are scored that aren't due to a mistake somewhere, but some of those goals last night could and should have been avoided.  Just saying.

You're right in that we will and we do get away with similar mistakes at the level we regularly play at.  it doesn't mean that we shouldn't be making them though.

Yes, it was poor from Forino too.  He probably got a shout of man on, but given he was being pressed from all sides he had no idea where he was safe to play the ball.  In hindsight he'll know he should've just booted it out of play ... but that's not the Evatt way.  He should never have been passed the ball though in that situation.

it was feeble- initial response was wtf Forino, didnt realise Santos sold him short. Watching it back just then nobody gets any praise- 1-2 wasnt really on due to the angle on Santos and his press, but to flick a half arsed outside pass, then react by blaming your teammate? poor

even if he hasnt scanned, you protect the goal- turn away and at least be a barrier

I enjoyed going to the game last night. Playing in front of a huge crowd under the floodlights always feels more exciting.

Thought the Bolton fans were terrific.

Watching live  you could see how fast and skillfull Arsenal were.

I thought we played reasonably well and scored a great goal.

However, we made two absolute howlers and I was disappointed that we seemed to be outmuscled and are pretty average at getting to the ball first.

I personally enjoyed getting the train home with loads of Kent Arsenal fans who generally just seemed to both not give a shit about the cup but also still seem to hate us for want we did years ago, pleased but not in a way.

From what I’ve seen of forinio he’s another greenidge/ndulu type of signing, possible potential to improve but not looking like he’s got what it takes.

Thought we were too accommodating.Not saying we should  have tried to kick them off the park , but at least a foot in now & again would have shown more intent.Having said that the ref would have punished us disproportionately I’m sure.

Baxter in goal would have reduced the score line imo but no amount of great goalkeeping can compensate for our static defending .Strangely enough I think only Williams came out with any defensive credit , although he must have been relieved to see Saka going off .We need to stop making the same mistakes regardless of the opposition.Crawley is far more important than last night  a clean sheet would be progress !

Absolutely. When Wenger used to moan about us, we'd say "What the F-K do you want us to do, play the same way as you, roll over and have you tickle our belly's" -- We did that last night. 

 

I'm not for 1 second saying we should have gotten anything out of the game, but you can't defend as badly as we did, play with such a soft centre and without any physicality and say "well done boys, good try"

 

Again, it was all just too nice and friendly. And that really bothers me. I think the managers ego got in the way of giving them a proper game last night. He cares more about his reputation in the game, than our results sometimes. Or at least it feels that way

aye, I'm not into over analysing and looking for blame or a mistake

1 and 3 were obvious errors

the rest were just football

Remember the days when Arsene Wenger used to have a go at Big Sam for roughing them up? No use trying to play Premiership football against them. we are just physically weak.

The Arsenal team last night was full of internationals and players with Champions league experience galore , our players are from division 3 and most of them are there for a reason .

Even the Arsenal team of 20 years ago would find it tough with the Fitness , movement and passing speed of the modern day players , roughing up the opposition is all well and good but you have to get near them first .

I thought we didn't disgrace ourselves last night against a squad light years ahead of us quality wise.

I believe he was the one that sent Santos off against Blackpool away last season too.

Don't think he did an awful lot wrong with the exception of the Sheehan penalty shout. I think the other way round, they get that - home advantage potentially? Not that that makes it acceptable but it's easier to give it when you've got 55,000 screaming at you than 4,000 over 100 yards away.

Apart from the Sheehan penalty claim, which he definitely bottled, I don't think he got much wrong ... then again, it was a pretty easy match to referee.  It's not like there were tackles flying in everywhere.
