Surely we’re all in whatever our views on Evatt. He just needs to accept it’s not working and mend it. Only he can do it so let’s hope this week has really sparked something and he and the players come out and show it? COYWM 🥳

Correct.

I think he's a one-trick pony who's been found out. He needs to change (well, firstly he needs to accept the need to change, then find out how) but fear he's too arrogant to do that. But while he's I'm the hot-seat I have to want him to succeed.

One more bad defeat in the next couple at league level could doom him. One win, nice to have, would not suffice unless it's followed up by more & a general swing to good.

We'll see.

I can’t wait to see us passing it around our six yard box against Arsenal. That might be the straw that broke the donkeys jaw bone.

Well it’s entirely in his hands. He’s been backed with money, backed by the majority of fans and backed by the Chairman so it’s up to him now. If he’s half as good a manager as he thinks he is then now is the time to show it.

Within reason I don't care what happens against Arsenal. It may be an opportunity for some fun & variation against what will essentially be their B team, but Reading & Crawley are what matters.

We never looked back after Scarborough...

That must have been a long season, can remember going to Scarborough buty mate had to drive my car as i had only got in from Town about 4 hours before and was way too drunk to drive, i was a single lad and had been working away but was back living at my mother's gaff.

Then i remember being at Wrexham last game and going back to a house i had bought with the current Mrs Whitestar and taking her to the Stags head on Daubhill to celebrate.

Also i think a big ding dong doo with Burnley fans mid season also that year.

Wow, time flys eh?

Might be wrong & CBA looking it up but ,  didn't we go rock bottom of the 4th division after a home defeat around October that season????

That pub on Bradford Street, no longer there, cant recall the name. Lots of Burnley drinking in there and the place got attacked.  There were some shenanigans in the Corner Pin in Stubbins after the cup game at Burnley to iirc.

There were plenty shenanigans in Burnley itself before & after the cup game, & maybe even more at the following weeks' league game. Happy days.

Bradford Arms?

No we didn't, in fact I'm fairly sure we were never out of the top 10.  Made a solid start apart from the Scarboro 4-0.  The football was crap and the crowds were low (about 4k home fans usually) and I remember the only thing keeping my interest was always being up around the play off places.  How we finished 3rd god knows but we were never struggling bottom half.

Just looked in the good old Rothmans , the lowest placing was 16th after the Scarborough match ( 3 games ) and then in October we went as low as 13th before hugging 6th and 7th for a chunk of the season.

Cheers for that.  That low of 16th only lasted 2 days, I remember playing Peterboro on the following Monday (a boiling Aug Bank Hol).  Obviously we were all on a downer with the Scarboro embarrassment and there was only 3,746 there.

Won 2-0 and we were generally top half after that apart from as you say once in October after losing at Darlington (crowd 1,763!).

We always seemed to win enough to keep in touching  distance , I think the 2 wins over the Easter weekend set us on the way although I think Torquay only had to win 1 of the last 2 and lost them both iirc

Yes Orient away, Burnley home with Andy May scoring was a great weekend, but we didn't win any of the 6 games either side and scored all of 2 goals.  We were bloody awful generally, but played 4 terrible teams to finish the season with another 10 points.  We still only got 78 points and that turned out to be enough (87 points last season in comparison, to also finish 3rd).

Cheers johnny i very nearly fell asleep reading that but i didnt oh well thanks for your input zzzz
