  • That was pathetic, abject, depressing, slow, inept, cowardly, and utterly humiliating. I'm one of the so-called "happy clappers", but it's clearly time for a refresh.

When a manager is under pressure and debate is raging about him there’s always A defining moment when everyone agrees it’s time to put an end to it. Today was that moment.   anything that comes

  • They simply have to pull the trigger now. A new manager coming in at this point has plenty of time and a decent amount of points on the board to build a promotion charge. We should be right

Really should be no excuses this time.

Weren't really any previous years.

Minimum is to compete, and we haven't done.

We really could do with getting ahead, and score in the first half.

Dampen their spirit, then break it later.

The first time we met under Evatt, they just had a better team than we did

It didn't excuse the performance but we were never winning it

The home fixture last season really was inexcusable though and, as has already been posted, there simply is no excuse this time round

The first goal will be huge

One thing is for sure: if you don't compete, you don't give yourself chance of victory, even if the other side have a better team on paper.

Not sure about the "no excuses", its a L1 game and in our last 2 homes, the first half performances have been very poor.  Throw in the Shrewsbury and Burton first halves a couple of months ago, yes those games turned out OK in the end but do we really see us turning round a 1st half deficit against these men assuming they keep 11 men on the pitch?

Course we should be confident we'll be better than them if we turn up, but we don't have any right to go into any league game with a superiority complex with the way we are playing.

It's football and obviously anything can happen on the day

I wouldn't argue we have a divine right to beat anyone but I think the point is we have everything to our advantage

It's a fact that Evatt has signed certain types of players, to fit his system. NOT included in that are hard men ... or feisty fckrs. We're polite, too pretty & too easily overwhelmed.

I have little up to date knowledge of the Wigan mentality or team make up but they do, typically, turn up against us & have a go.

I bloody hope Evatg knows this & can anticipate it & set the players up right. If it doesn't matter to the players it does to the fans. Very much.

The usual 0-4 & he shouldn't even go into the changing room, just drive home & stay there.

I'd say GT Dempsey and Dion are 'feisty'.

It's character we need not hard men.

Wigans defence is pretty good apart from today of course but they have problems scoring we should be winning this .

Bollocks to those that say there aren’t, unless we get 2 men incorrectly sent off there are “no excuses”.

They’re 18th and genuinely battling relegation, they’ve got 9 points from 9 away games this season and they’ve lost their last 3 league games.

If we don’t win this game then he has to be questioned about the big game thing. I’d say he has to go. There’s no easier chance to beat these twats and a big win could turn the tide.

No excuses, genuinely.

We'd have lost this game 0-4 last season

And the season before

0-4

200/1

Granted their defeat today was poor.  Their other 2 defeats in last 3 were Wycombe and Huddersfield, the same results we would have got on current form.

They've had 1 very poor away defeat - Cambridge.  But draws at Blackpool, Stockport and Lincoln conceding 2 in total - we'd be happy with those results.

Wins at Barnsley and Bristol Rovers with a total score of 5-0 - what chance we'd do that?

Lost 1-0 at Huddersfield, 2-1 at Brum in last minute, and at Reading, all top 6.  Again, not sure where we'd have got better results?

Nonsense to class this as an easy game.

If we win, and its against 11 men, its one of our best results of the season to date.

I doubt anyone thinks it's an easy game because we've not beaten them in our last eight meetings and 10 years since we did

But more than ever it's one we should be looking to win if we're serious about promotion, when you consider we're at home and their form and position

Needs to be an atmosphere like the Barnsley playoff.

Won't be though :(

How many places above us?

Fair enough but I'm not fooled by their position, in the respect that  1.  their away form is decent given they have had an unusually difficult set of fixtures 2. only Wrexham have conceded less than their total of 16, so they will be more difficult to break down than anyone we've scored against this season.

Any goal, for or against, is going to be massive, this isn't going to be a 5-2 like Reading or an end to end open game like Blackpool.  1-0 to us hopefully 🤞

We need some folded card and a will to smack the twat on our open hand to beat these fuckers.

I'm just offering an opinion, as you know, that it isn't an "easy" game.   How many games have they lost 4-0 or 5-0?  Two less than us.

If you think its easy, great, I'll be buzzing when we get our 3rd after an hour, and I promise I'll come on here and say I was wrong.

I think what you're saying is not winning is totally unacceptable because they're shit.  I'm saying its no different to 90% of other games, it will be hard work.

They have obviously struggled to score goals but conceded far fewer than us. Been in a lot of tight, arm wrestle sorts of games. All the more important to start well and score first. We do that and we win  Give a goal start to these and it could be a long afternoon. Not a 0-3 or 0-4 by any means but a frustrating 0-1.

Like last season they will start with niggling fouls that won’t get punished and the first pull back we get a yellow card

We have to be better than the last few games or we lose this one.

like many have said we need to start well and score early; then no sitting back

The point im making is we are all less than happy with the season so far but theyd swap in a heartbeat, yet youre making a case for  em

All im saying is theyre a bottom end team, the type we can generally beat even when we are shit

I expect we will win

But all we have is Tess Daly.

Any win will do and in the magnitude of this game, that would be huge.

the division isn’t great, we need to keep holding on until injured players return and the transfer window opens.

We will also gave another decent run

I think we've also got the factor of having players like Lolos, Osei-Tutu and CMG (if he ever gets back to the fitness level of when he signed) that we've still to see the potential of. CMG, if he gets an unbroken run of a few months, like a new signing
