They nearly scored a 2nd while he was wondering about ‘chasing’ Boateng. That said I think something bigger is going on and they don’t look a happy bunch. Lots of bickering all game. Where I disagree is the leave Collins at home shout. Firstly beefs or arguments are 2 way streets and I suspect there is a lot more too it. Secondly I think he’s incredibly talented and a game changer in our team who can do things that others can’t. I really like him. Needs sorting and not the way I think it will go with Collins or Mcatee departing. Therell always be 'bickering' when teams are struggling Collins either toes the line or he fucks off back to obscurity His choice Quote

We were discussing who should go off tonight before the subs actually happened. Vic had been poor, Collins had been worse. With Collins you always have the chance of him pulling something out of the bag .. but that jog back after their player was nothing short of disgraceful. It made the decision an easy one for Evatt IMO. Thankfully it all worked out in the end. Quite why we've got players clearly not giving it their all is a concern though. Quote

DazBob Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 What we really need is a Maghoma type player in January, who can play in the role that McAtee is currently playing in. We can then play McAtee up top where he'll have much more of an impact. Anyway, that's enough for me tonight. So chuffed with the win, but had their #44 not been such a dick I think it'd have been pretty toxic at full time Quote

bolton va va Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Poor first half but much better after the substitutions. Other big plusses apart from the result were a very impressive Tutu ( as a left winger !!! ) & Lolos looking useful. EIEIfucking O Quote
Take Hunt Off Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Surreal game that .Can’t for the life of me work out why our wingbacks played arse about face , Schon struggled with that concept & as an improving player was compromised by a weird ‘tactical’ decision. First half performance plus Vic’s miss turned our locality toxic (despite the miss I thought he did ok with absolutely zero support from either Collins or McAtee) I actually had the same thought as Mick Brown that Evatt was trying to get himself sacked. Can’t work out whether the subs were genius or more likely a last desperate roll of the dice . Anyway if we can win after playing shite for sixty minutes maybe there is hope . The question is will Evatt learn anything from tonight , especially the midfield two ? Quote

Vic's only job all night was to battle their centre half for long balls, and he brought down far more than he didn't. The failing was his complete isolation. Nobody ever within a centre circle's area near him - where were our super awesome amazing wide forwards to support? Completely anonymous (McAtee improved, granted), but their names scan nicely with a couple of songs, so it's reyt. Collins did fuck all for 90 minutes v Blackpool - his goal was as pure a crack-paperer as you'll see. Adeboyejo isn't perfect, far from it. Should we have sold up? Probably. But I'm tired of him being the scapegoat when there are many more players in that squad who need to look at themselves. Vic wasn't isolated. We had bodies around him all game. It's an excuse. He just can't hold the ball up. He's clumsy, and has poor technique. I know what good target play looks like. I've seen Kevin Davies. Lukasz Jutkievicz was an unbelievable target man. He could turn any hoofball into a good ball. This team is weighed down by the system. Everything is formulaic. The patterns of play , it's predictable. There is only a few players on the pitch who can do something outside of structure, and Collins is one of them. Is he having his best season, no. Is he a bit moody, maybe. The chopping and changing isn't good for any of the strikers to get in any rhythm. But all I know is if that chance against Blackpool fell to Vic, it wouldn't of gone in. And he couldn't of done what mcatee did for the third either. Quote
Popular Post whoareya? Posted December 4, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 4, 2024 That nobhead RUReady went quiet when we turned it around. BWFC doesn’t need “fans” like you. Go and find something else to do with your miserable time & life. Go on you Whitemen! Quote
Didledee Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Vic missed 2 great chances before his goal and if you look at it again from behind the goal it looks like it's going to hit the post/just wide before the deflection of the defender, so he'll probably still get it, but looks an og. Quote

But he's fortunate we've got one of the best squads in the division, so even playing as badly as we have been doing we have quality players to score when not playing particularly well/in our 10 mins of playing well. Duck Egg Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 3 points thank feck. Big amongst the concerns for me, is Nathan Baxter's form. He's looked terrible on crosses this season and particularly these last few weeks. Quote
Wanderlust Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Interesting comments, especially from those with the power to read minds and know who was thinking what - we are truly blessed with a psychic fan base. And on that note I’ll chuck my penny’s worth in. I reckon we have quite a few players who really rate themselves and feel they have a divine right to get selected and win games because they think they are better than the opposition - without putting in the performances required. After our recent unconvincing form, I reckon Evatt has been handing out the bollockings and backed it up with the brave statements he made about expecting a busy January with big changes and players going out as well as coming in. Seems to me like he’s starting to lose patience with a few and last night was “play for your place and future at the club” night. Vic worked his socks off and might have done better if Baxter’s distribution was better, but showed he was up for the fight despite his inability to score in a brothel. The inverted wingbacks made sense attack-wise but the top teams that do it have a rock solid defence behind them and unfortunately the two GJ’s were a liability last night allowing crosses to rain in including the goal and the midfield were shoddy - GT and Demps are sorely missed. Sheehan was a passenger and Matete was trying too hard so was caught out of position a lot. Point is though that Evatt gave everyone a chance to stake their claim. Some did better than others. The subs on the other hand seemed absolutely desperate to make an impact and they did. So my take on it is that although we’re in a good position to push on, Evatt has had enough because the minimum requirement to play the way he wants is to be at least solid everywhere and some players struggled with the responsibility. But I think they are starting to realise it’s shit or get off the pan time. Quote
desperado Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Karma for that Boateng. Should have been sent off in the league cup game. Changing point, after a turgid 70 mins. But credit after that. I was dreading another Cambridge debacle against 10. I’ll be honest I wasn’t overly impressed with the subs, the continuation of inverted WBs and leaving Vic on. But on all those 3 points, I was wrong, Evatt was right. Quote

Clough was pretty frank in his interview after, a good honest interview actually. Evatt’s was his usual mixed bag. Some self-acclaimed stats, some questionable justification of his selection/tactics. But all the haters won’t like it, some honest, understandable and reasonable comments too. I’ll not post any quotes or links cause some folk get upset. Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 For the avoidance of doubt, we won last night and, yes, that's all that matters. There were a couple of things to like; Osei-Tutu, could be a real find if stays fit, great ball carrying ability Lolos, bit raw and ungainly looking at times but strong and pacy, direct, something in him The rest of it was a shambles with a turnround gifted to us on a platter with the red card Could see that the inverted wing backs thing might have been an idea to try to get more out of Collins and McAtee but it nullified Schon's considerable forward threat on his normal side and defensively was a disaster. It should have been binned after 25 minutes, when it was obvious neither Schon or Cogley knew what day it was without the ball and both GJs were panic striken by it. Johnston had the worst 70 minutes I've ever seen from him That system plus the two in midfield was a horrific mess, with huge distances still between those two and the front three, with Tomo back Sat it has to go back to three and two up front. Front three were abysmal, again, in different ways. Vic was made to look half decent at times by having a 30-odd year old striker playing CB against him but overall was dire. He is not a target man, never will be. Collins clearly has loads of ability but has to be prepared to put a bit of effort in now and again, was bone idle last night, as he was v Blackpool. Should be on bench, to do damage when there's space and opponents are tiring McAtee is no better and no harder worker, just a better actor than Collins, doing fuck all for large parts of the game but sucking folk in by looking busy, doing something eye catching once in 20 minutes and does a lot of arm waving and finger pointing. He thinks he's better than he is and thinks he's on a different level to his team mates. Yes, took goal well, but as with Collins the week before, could have been hooked long before. Evatt's weird effort at Pep-like mind games with Charles is ridiculous, even on his off days at least when he is on the pitch there is energy, which transmits to others and galvanises the crowd. Just play to his strengths and find him a proper partner, it's not rocket science. Baxter's become a bit of a concern, at first it was just his playing out from the back that was panicky, now the malaise of those in front of him is eating into his general keeping, especially in the air. But anyway, we won and moved up the table, so it doesn't really matter. Quote
Rizlar Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Poor performance agree with comments about Collins something is wrong with him end of last season he was brilliant now he looks dreadful something isn’t right ! Vic tries but he’s no 20 goal a season striker and couldn’t trap a bag of cement. 2 in midfield needs to be binned and I wish Evatt would stop experimenting changing wing backs did nothing but makes us look worse defensively. Anyway a wins a win and many a pundit always say the sign of a good team is finding a way to win when they are playing poorly!! Quote

So any pre season training won't have been with that set up. We'd been chasing McAtee for some time, and had to wait to get him. I reckon Evatt was very confident he would though. Quote
