Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 I don't feel for him. He went because we'd become shit. It will be interesting to see how we set up, and the effort, more than the result. They may feel freed up, some may feel a bit unsure, some as an opportunity. Don't think any of us can see anything other than a defeat, but we can only hope that whatever team is put out, that the players realise that their immediate futures could be decided over the next few games. I bet its the same team as Tuesday (injuries permitting). It would be rare for a caretaker manager - with no ambitions for the job, literally there for a few days - to cause any hassle or give themselves the job of telling folk they're dropped. Right lads, you played well on Tuesday, more of the same, go out and express yourselves! I could be totally wrong, maybe Jules will go in, strip Tomo of the captaincy and have intense training sessions teaching them 4-4-2 like what he was brought up on. Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 Surely there job is to get the best result for the club. If they feel different shape or personnel are required for that, then so be it. Fuck any soppy cunts that get upset by it- it's not as if they're ripping up trees! I wonder if quietly, Darby might fancy a go? Quote

I wonder if quietly, Darby might fancy a go? I'm going with not in the slightest. He's been a coach/assistant manager on and off for decades, never heard him in the running for a manager's job at any level. Not everyone wants the pressure of being the main man. Quote

I wonder if quietly, Darby might fancy a go? Not sure which way they’ll go. It’s quite intriguing, although I suspect Johnny will be right, I’m expecting to see the same side, but I’d love to see something different, a 4-5-1. I don’t know, but I’m guessing it will be Tutte who heads the trio up, I think he’s closer to the first team isn’t he? Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 Agree about Darby, doesn't appear to have wanted to be a manager, but just wondered with it being "his" club. My instinct is that the team will change. Would surprise me to see a more defensive minded set up. Quote

gonzo Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 Watched an old clip of some Bolton goals the other day and I swear I saw a young Julian Darby as ball boy behind the goal. Surprised nobody has ever mentioned it. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 Well, I wouldn't mind us bagging one or two of his thundertwats from the edge of the box, come Saturday. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 An interview with Darby just up on the BN. An interesting last sentence: "we just been watching Huddersfield highlights ". I really don't see us playing with such an attack minded set up. Going out on a limb, I'm predicting a 4-5-1. Quote

Dimron Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 looking forward to this one... can't believe that young lad in his debut season is now 57 years old... I now feel officially ancient 😉 Recall he became a "utility player", just happy to be out there... I think if the manager would have told him he wanted him to be the dog shit sweeper upper in the next game he'd have said "yes boss". He's got a tough away game to start with, I just hope he gets the team playing well and does the club proud... when we score we'll all go effin' barmy... wish I was going now 🙂 Quote
