Quoting myself here But after some digging, if you combine the amount of shots on target we had in our games against Rotherham, Wigan, Birmingham, Huddersfield, Stockport and also Oxford at Wembl

I said a month or two back McAtee was a fraud. Does a load of arm waving and pointing, as though he's from a higher level and the others need the benefit of his advice, while doing absolutely fuck all

He says he asks the players to come out and show our DNA and what we are about and that's what we did... What playing like shite, having 1 shot on target against an incredibly poor side that had

Really poor game. Wrexham no better. Couldn't see if there was a deflection on the goal as Baxter was rooted to the spot and never moved. This tournament has twice cost us promotion due to extra games, suspensions, injuries and fatigue so Wembley can fuck right off until the playoff final. Glad we are out of this poxy competition

Other than the fact I increasingly can't abide Wrexham I am not fussed about this. I am not actually too fussed about this season and SS has a free pass from me until the Summer. More information gathering for the new man tonight, weighing up each player's attitude and attributes.

Boring game with not much urgency

Reet, now this shite is out of the way,   roll on bank holiday weekend in may !!

Officiating was a joke, there was a foul in the lead up to the goal on victor that we didn’t get. Also, how the hell that wasn’t a free kick at the end with Collins on the edge of the box ill never know.

Not overly disappointed to be out and thought we did ok. I was hoping to judge this as a precursor to a possible play off semi. Whilst we bossed it for 60 mins, their subs changed the game and we looked timid and weak just like under Evatt after that. We’ve only got Morley and Schon coming and I don’t think they’d make that much difference unfortunately.

We scored 4 on Saturday!    Explain ruthlessness again ?

And not one of those goals from a forward.

Further highlights our limitations to SS without it actually mattering. No bad thing really.

Vic, Lolos, GT specifically absolute dross. McAtee certainly didn’t do anything to improve current views. Baxter a shadow of the player from the first half of last year.

Can’t say I’m arsed now that I won’t feel obliged to go to Wembley to get beat by Birmingham when we’ve already done it to it’s absolute max a couple of years ago.

Hope SS fucks this competition off in the group stage next season.

Would've been nice, but a bit glad we're out really. No need to think about planning a trip to London.

For that reason alone I'm glad we are out.

It's harder to get knocked out of this than progress

We were the much better side but expectedly no killer instinct.

Teams like Wrexham know how to stay solid, you have to be efficient in games against them. That's 2 matches against them without a single goal despite being the better side in both games.

With a 523 system, Jones and Cogley as the wing backs with Adabeyejo up top, you're asking for an severely lacklustre attacking threat.

I think if we played the same team as we did on Saturday we score a few goals and win today. But obviously SS has to rotate.

Personally glad we are out of this trophy. I see Wembley only for the play off final hopefully this season.

I agree, just seeing what he’s got and tonight he will have learned it’s not very much. We’re miles away from being a promotion team, weak in the tackle, no cutting edge up front and we’re kidding ourselves if we think those missing tonight would have made much of a difference. I’m afraid Evatt’s left us with a very poor squad and selling Dion robbed us of any chance of a goal threat. So much money wasted on very average players.

A play off 2nd leg at Wrexham is only going one way, with their physicality (most of it not on show tonight) and the crowd on top of you and the small away end tucked away in a corner.  Beggars can't be choosers but I'd be hoping for Wycombe or Huddersfield, somehow Wrexham at Wembley would seem less daunting for a weak/small team like our's, to play to our strengths, the Racecourse just seems set up for Wrexham to bully teams.

Should’ve had it won by half time. Lack of bench options meant we’d always struggle if they made changes.

Felt a bit Evatt like but Schumacher still finding his feet with the players.

Evatt said himself not much would change with a new manager. Self preservation of course but I do think we’ll see inconsistent results for rest of season with an outside sniff of play offs.

Amazing if we somehow go up, but Schumacher will have pre season to shape his own squad.

Still wouldn't rule out completely us not having to bother with this competition next year. Playoffs are very doable.

Really would like McAtee to succeed but it's just not happening, Anyone else think he's carrying too much weight?

On what planet did the new gaffa think that changing us to a 2 man midfield (one of which being a tired Sheehan) would work. Whilst we didn’t look too much like scoring we were controlling the game and it gifted them the space to get their first proper attack in.

I’m delighted we got him in and probs shouldn’t have a go so early in his tenure but those changes were a massive concern.

But Cogley and Jones were instrumental in two of the goals on Saturday.

Wouldn’t have been fun getting pumped off brum. 1 trip to Wembley will do.

He’s a fellow Walkdener isn’t he?

I’d love any Bolton player to succeed. And I’m loathe to criticise any of them (apart from Keith Andrew’s).

I just don’t think he has the ability at this level. Barnsley fans weren’t overly fussed to lose him. Would love him to come good, and I’ve seen comments about his best position. But I’d expect us, him and 2 managers to know by now.

Yeah but that was because Evatt had wasted a lot of money on 2 crap strikers in Victor And McAtee and also wasted a lot of money on a midfielder that wasn't needed (randall)

Don’t disagree with you. Just making the point that he’s right. It’ll take SS some time to mould this squad into a competitive team.

Yes he is from Walkden 👍. Anyway let's see what SS can do with him for the rest of the season.
