I said a month or two back McAtee was a fraud. Does a load of arm waving and pointing, as though he's from a higher level and the others need the benefit of his advice, while doing absolutely fuck all of any consequence himself. 

When Collins had that off day at Reading it laid bare our problems, far too much reliance on him to pull rabbits out of hats. With Charles out the door that's where we are, the rest of our supposed strike force is abysmal.

I've seen some of the goals they've conceded in recent league games and its been embarrassing, passing to the opposition in their own box, no marking etc (we benefitted from 2 but there have been far worse).  Can't believe Caldwell is still there TBH, conceded 25 in last 10 games after a decent start to the season, looked good at our place but gone to pot in the league.

Agreed. McAtee is as bad as the others, but has a chip on his shoulder because he came from a team in a higher league. Never been convinced by him and he’s done nothing to change my opinion. Total waste of (a lot of) money.

Thought we were the better side for large chunks tonight, just lacked that cutting edge up top (again) and they took their one half decent chance

Was gutted when we got knocked out at Blackpool last year, but I’ll kind of take this one in the Hot Fuzz sense of the greater good

How the fuck that upper tier gets a safety certificate is beyond me, was a bloody nightmare having folk push past all night

Sainsbury’s a great parking spot for anyone driving to the league game

I think there's no bigger fraud than Victor.

I think it was a mistake to alter the balance of our midfield in the second half by bringing Matete off

One the one hand, it's good to see us go for it, but on the other, it left us a bit exposed

Decent evening. Glad I went. 

Although that “top tier” is a disgrace. 

Fans superb throughout, great backing.

For a large part of that game we were totally dominant. We were well into the 2nd half before Wrexham managed a shot.

Considering Jones and Cogley won’t be our preferred choices as RWB and LWB respectively for the rest of the season they didn’t do too badly.

We are probably looking at 6 changes Saturday; Southwood, Morley, Tutu, Schon, Randall and Collins, so I don’t think we need to be too harsh on what that result means.

Disappointed to go out. I’ll take that league win now to balance the books.

Just the promotion charge to concentrate on now, so some will be happy.

I’m assuming that’s slightly tongue in cheek pal?

I think the 5 games since his departure have seen the players perform much better than they were doing for Evatt at the end. 

And harsh to judge on a night like tonight with an unusual team selection with so many unavailable. I actually thought there were some decent performances out there; Toal, Johnston, Forrester, Cogley, Sheehan, Matete.

Sometimes the result doesn’t tell the story. That losing performance was much better on the eye than the Lincoln victory in the previous round.

that strike force that popped 3 goals in against us on Saturday looked very capable, get hold of the ball  and attack .

It's a trait this squad needs to get out of.

Probably due to Evatt not having them as fit as they should be.This is an area along with training them how to defend and attack set pieces more competently that a better manager will have the sane players achieving more.

It is evident that a lot is wrong with the squad Schumacher inherited. The average fan can see that looking in.

Snippets of gossip got leaked out about training and senior management not being present. I thought the team  would get tinkered with come the summer and we would go with the majority of the current squad next season. It is clear now a re-build is needed.  We have about 7 out of contract in the summer and none are currently showing enough to merit a new contract. Santos would get another chance to see if he can play in Schumacher quicker system in getting the ball forward 

Baxter has lost interest, Jones has been excellent but he is not the player he was, Cogley is not a full back or winger more a steady eddie but is not what is needed. Firino not a clue.. Noone is putting an offer of money in for Vic. It's an Nlundulu situation now of cutting our losses.

McAtee is a weird one, he should be better than he has been. He's technically good and can shoot well. I expected far better from him this season but maybe he is suffering from the lack of striking options to support him. This season and squad isn't the time to write him off.

Nobody is writing him off...He is contracted to the club and the club put a big investment into him Schon and Randall

 

It is up to Schumacher to try and get them playing into his system.......Others who are out of contract for me have done nothing to warrant another, and yes we may have to cut our losses on one or two.

Vic is Vic, a honest player who is very limited in lge1.....Was a winger and Evatt moved him central....It is up to Schumacher but i doubt many would have him partnering Collins long term

You may prove to be right.

But to make that judgment now, after a game with a disjointed team, with no options to achieve any balance, with probably 6 changes off our strongest line up, seems a bit harsh.

I think from a tactical standpoint I feel that we almost nearly have to play with wingers going forward now like we did against Crawley.

None of the strikers scored in the 4 goals we had, it would certainly put less pressure on the front man than in a 3421 system
