They would have never scored today had we not gifted them two goals. Had a very poor 0-0 written all over it.

It looked like that was their game plan.

Keep a clean sheet and see if we gift them a goal.

They weren't exactly committed to all out attack.

They shouldn't need telling though should they ?

Set piece, our biggest stump should just say he'll mark their biggest stump, and so on.

And that Taylor was a stump for us. Looked like a different player today.

Can't be arsed joining in with the post-mortem.

A couple of observations over recent games:

1. Some odd set ups and odd substitutions.

Seemed a bit desperate at times.

2. After the initial change and successes, we have gone backwards, reverted to Evatt-esque levels, both in style and apparent willingness to get stuck in.

3. Many, many comments on here about how shit so many of the top teams are.

They're top because they've got their own, successful style, however ugly it may be. Some of our best results have been achieved in the same way.

4. SS has his work cut out, and obviously gets the backing for next season. He came with the initial comments that the squad was good and that the team was in a great position.

Well, we're round about the same place, and with the same mixed results. Hopefully he has worked out what needs addressing- players that aren't fully committed, fancy Dans, etc, and mould a new team from those that are committed, with a new ones who will complement the group.

5. I hope it works with the new director of football. Not convinced whatsoever that it will, but time will tell.

Today simply the difference between top 2 or 3 and also rans. Tight game, lack of quality and decided by an error.

Too many games like that where we don’t have the nous to stay in it, keep it tight, etc.

Hard to resist commenting on players. I don’t really blame most of them. They are what they are and it’s not their fault they were signed over their level or for a system they can’t play in.

SS will know a lot about them after these last few games. Desire, pace and decision making all need addressing. It’ll take him some time.

Finally, Adimbola did well when he came on. But let’s allow the lad to develop at his own pace.

Tbf I think he was another who spent most of his spell here injured 🙄

This Lolos, what position is he supposed to play?

We seem to collect players who aren't really this and aren't really that. Middle of nowhere.

The last 2 transfer windows have been an abomination

We have at least 4 players who I've absolutely no idea what their proper position is.

What terms did Schumacher leave Stoke btw? Was he potted?

I can see him walking I honestly can.

I actually rated him when here. Was clear to see he could play. But he arrived unfit and kept going off with cramp. Then got injured. Was surprised IE didn’t go back in for him, unless he didn’t want to play second fiddle to Santos.

Three games left. 3 points off it. If we don't make it, we don't make it. But it would be poetic justice to shithouse our way in after being dominant and just missing out on the autos just last season.

So the miracle is still on then?

I suppose if we win all 3 games 10 nil and both Orient and Reading lose one we’ll be right in the mix.

Just read this post online , very worrying how many of this current crop of players we are stuck with .

WE CAN'T HAVE A BIG CLEAR OUT. Not as big as people feel is needed anyway.
The problem is the length of contracts that Evatt and Markham gave to the current squad. Unless we get a lot of interest from clubs wanting to pay compensation, or a lot of "mutual consent", we're stuck with the dead wood on the payroll. We have 18 first team players who are still contracted for between another 1 and 3 years so we have limited choice other than keep them.

Leaving to return to parent clubs after loan:
Kion Etete (contracted at Cardiff until 2027)
Jay Matete (contracted at Sunderland until 2026)
Alex Murphy (contracted at Newcastle until 2027)

Returning to Bolton from loan:
Ben Andreucci, Max Conway, Charlie Hayes-Green, Luke Matheson, Dan Nlundulu.

Out of Contract at Bolton at end of season (June 30 2025):
Ricardo Almeida Santos, Ben Andreucci, Nathan Baxter, Joel Coleman, Max Conway, Charlie Hayes-Green, Luke Hutchinson, Gethin Jones, Luke Matheson.

Contracted until end of June 2026:
Victor Adeboyejo, Josh Dacres-Cogley, Jack Dallimore, Kyle Dempsey, Dubem Eze, Will Forrester, Sam Inwood, Mark Isong, George Johnston, Carlos Mendes-Gomes, Dan Nlundulu, Jordi Osei-Tutu, Luke Southwood, Ajay Weston.

Contracted until end of June 2027:
Aaron Collins, Chris Forino-Joseph, Klaidi Lolos, John McAtee, Aaron Morley, Szabolcs Schön, Josh Sheehan, Eoin Toal, George Thomason.

Contracted until end of June 2028:
Joel Randall.

Potted at Stoke in dubious circumstances by Jonathan Walter’s I think?

I doubt he’d walk! It wouldn’t reflect well on him or his chances of future employment at this level if he did that.

A shambles of a team. Playing like they already have their suitcases half packed and open on the bed at home. We need a big clear out, we need the mould breaking as this team is full of fannies and cowards. Playing season out like a bunch of fucking journey men.

Wankers

Any sort of commitment and belief today would have resulted in 3 points, they were poor and there for the the taking. Unfortunately the players who know they won’t be here next season are already on holiday. I’d play the whole academy team for the last 3 games.

This is where I'm at, most of these players know full well they won't be playing under SS next season, they won't want to get risked getting injured which could well jeapardize their next move away, so they’re not giving their full commitment imo.

Aye.

Important for me though, is that youth is given a chance.

It's OK saying they're all shit because they don't get selected, but it must also be soul destroying when they see low sock wearers strutting around and achieving nine tenths of fuck all, sometimes great expense, whilst they show some effort.

Even if it's just an odd sub appearance, in a cup game initially, they have to feel there is a door to the first team at some point.

Can’t remember a player I’ve took an irrational dislike to like I have with McAtee.

Everything about him pisses me off. His socks, his shit waddle/jog, fucking no headers, his shit Amish beard.

Probably says more about me than him😁

I'm glad it's not just me then 😄

I know he's scored a handful of decent goals but outside of that, I just don't see what he brings.

I don't get me started on this not trying for headers shite.

It's all the gesticulating he does for me. Mate, you've done fuck all.  Shut the fuck up and try to play football.

Wow.

I certainly can't.

He wanted to come.

Liked the squad, the position of the team, the set up etc.

He may have learned a bit about the players now, but I'm sure he was aware there were some issues too, before he took the job.

If he walked now, he would be damaging his career.

I'm sure he's disappointed by what he's seeing-maybe one or two players aren't overly enamoured with him too- but I reckon he will sit down in the closed season, work out what he needs to change, and relish the chance of attacking the new season with his squad, in front of 20k each week.

20k that will turn up if we start showing more character and promise.
