August 3, 20251 yr Ref has been a busy little prick, every single throw in & corner to them. Stockport are a clever shithouse team though, very hard to come here & deal with 672 balls put in behind your defence whilst watching them win about 400 throw ins in your corner for 90 minutes but then they have a bit of quality to go with it that wins them games. Good reality check, how we've ended up with McAtee as a lone striker to chase a goal when last season we had to endure him/Collins for 6 months showing they can't do that role is absolutely shite seeing as we've had plenty of time but wasted months lowballing Celtic for a striker who doesn't even want to leave. Anyway, Max Conway was our best player by a mile & Joel Randall looked good when he came on. On to Argyle, we didn't play bad by any means just need to get our first win under the belt with the tough start as it could be easy to fall into an early rut

Cogley missed a sitter and Forino hit the post admittedly from an offside position. Set pieces are one of Stockports main strengths and they were clearly physically bigger than us. Defensively was much better today than last season. That should hold us in good stead as the season goes on.
August 3, 20251 yr Sheehan , Randall and McAtee can't be allowed to play together on the same pitch, you could add the hulk to that mix and you'd still be too light weight. I really can't see what Sheehan offers the team.

August 3, 20251 yr Sort of game where the first goal was always going to win it. And we had plenty of chances to do that. I know this won't define our season (hopefully), but it's hard to think things haven't changed much - including shocking refs 😕

Aldo Raine said: Exactly Our set-piece delivery was awful, and theirs was bang on the money Yes, it doesn't just happen, it isn't just luck, its a skill that you have to scout for and get that type of player into your club. I'm not saying SS hasn't (Dalby etc), just that on the day we didn't show that. They did, and deserved to win. It doesn't mean we won't do what they did in a few weeks once other players are available and settled in.

August 3, 20251 yr I can see a few games this season similar to under evatt ball when it all comes together under the new formation and the wingers are on fire and we absolute muller a few teams . But similar to evatt sides can we grind the results out ? not give sloppy goals away a set piece and a lack of seeing the first half out as cost us . Frustrating

August 3, 20251 yr We have about half a dozen number 10s yet basically we dont have any....Duberry is great going forward but if he is to play away against a top 6 team we need a midfield three because he leaves Cogley exposed. Just one of those days, we will play a lot worse and win. Wooten is everything we are missing from getting out of this league. Would not bother me if i do not see Gomes or Mcatee in a Bolton shirt again
August 3, 20251 yr Thought we played quite well especially in the first half. Some decent chances for us. Simons and Conway hitting the woodwork. Cogley really should've scored from the corner. Both the new wingers forced decent saves from their keeper. The two goals we gave away were poor defending imo. Decent performance at times but awful result.

August 3, 20251 yr Conway looked good. Ref was useless as expected. McAtee missed a sitter. The first goal must have been a gut punch going in at half time when the best team. The obvious problem clear to everyone is no proven goalscorer/centre forward. Somebody that can put the ball into the net around the 6yd line. Same problem as last season and the owners need to find that extra 250k for the Celtic lad, otherwise this will be a repetitive story.

As a team it took us 20 mins to start playing in the 2nd half, consequently they were both subbed.

But if we go in 1 up at H-T, that's not a game we can say we've won at that stage. They would have bombarded us with crosses and set pieces, its doing them a disservice to assume they'd have a very rare home game where they don't score, against a team that very rarely keeps a clean sheet (but a draw would have still been a great improvement). Them scoring first meant they had us exactly where they wanted us with their ability to see games out, we don't have that mean streak yet, still too many IEs squad knocking around till we evolve enough.
