Plymouth Argyle (H)

Already a big game this.

Reckon on a bigger pitch with more space we will carve these open with our new found pace.

I'd say it was tbf. Proved he was more than just some schmuck sitting in front of the back 3 accepting suicide balls.

Miles better than Morley.

I think that's forgetting how good Morley's been since he came back, as good as Sheehan was today.  They are both good players, capable of 8 out of 10 games but also 5 or 6 sometimes, especially away from home.  Stockport away is very different to most home games.

Was today a particularly memorable performance? Not sure

As a week by week performance, maybe not

As a statement things have changed and going in a new direction, yes

@Kane57 what’s your issue with Schumacher / the team?

Requiem Mass for the sock down mincers

Like SS said, when he was at Plymouth, 3 of his 4 strikers got 10 goals each. This isn't about stand out performances its about a team performance and winning! Bye bye Ego ball. image.thumb.jpeg.41267b216b2884ea9033f04eeddf74de.jpeg

What I've liked about him last week and this is his anticipation, he sees things early and cuts balls out. That's a great attribute, aside from his height, running power and good left peg. Done his defending very well both games

Last season, we variously had Schon, Williams and Murphy at left back at no little cost.  And sent the best of the lot to Crewe for a season.  OK he probably needed testing and some experience and it did him good clearly, but a loan till Jan would have been enough with the option of a recall, how did they miss his potential and sign 2 left backs instead of giving him a chance?  So glad that's all behind us.

@Anidunno if you heard Callys mention at ht

it followed Linger played for my daughters wedding and sons birthday

I did but did not link it with him ! I thought it was for my 60th on Monday for a split second. Youth said he had not asked for anything ! He did however pay for family curry when we got back so he is forgiven.

it's hardly persisting with someone going into the second game

dropping him one game into the season would also be odd, given they've spent the whole summer preparing

give him a home game at least where the dynamic and space he will have will be totally different to what we saw at the weekend

then start Randall there in the cup

Looking back at this, I'm glad he didn't persist with McAtee 😀

Not trying to point score or anything but when you've got another direct competitor for the position and the player in the team has played badly it's good management to swap. Sends a clear message that there aren't any "untouchables", unlike the Evatt era.

All very well playing well, scoring 2 goals and never looking like conceding.

But I assume most of us are still fuming at the line up, Johnston can't defend and we need to get shut, Tutu will never make a full back, Sheehan and Randall weak as piss, Toal never been the same player since the injury, too slow and gets bullied.

Hopefully SS will see sense and get our best XI on the pitch next week.

I've been one of the ones saying Tutu isn't a full back (and I still think he'll struggle there against most teams) but he played well today, fair play to him.

Will be playing there against Barnsley next week? Unsure

After his bollocking in the first half after he turned backwards and gave the ball away he was excellent.

The telling thing in SS's post match was that 'I thought it was a game for certain individuals today', suggesting Barnsley away may be viewed differently.

He also said that those were left out today weren't out because we'd lost. About seeing particular weaknesses in the opposition and using certain people to exploit them

Great result, great performance..................Duberry mom, TSL better passing range on any keeper we have ever had

Johnson take a bow........Midfield Simons everything we have not had since pre-covid

Sheehan tackling back and Randell playing one or two balls only he can do in the squad.

Burstow worked hard deserved his goal.

Yes i questioned the team Schumacher picked.......Cogley never did much wrong in pre-season but Schumacher knew all about   Bailey Mumbi, i thought Desmond did a job on him, yes his defending is not  good but he kept the best winger in lge one.......Duberry aside quiet.

Midfield great Simons and Sheehan excellent, yes i would have Morley in there and i am Erhahon biggest supporter but those two dis everything Morley and Erhahon could do and more.

Forwards i think Gayle seemed a yard behind the pace but Plymouth could not give him room

Randell and Duberry class Burstow deserved a goal

Yes i thought we might have been light weight ....

Any of you clowns out there who still hanker for last season.....Think this Conway and Morley loaned out and Murphy,Matete loaned in

And you were doing so well.

Couple of our chances shown here. Should've/could've had a few more looking at this really - only negative if I'm clutching at straws. Good performance!

Quality that from start to finish.

no passengers.

few times we could have played in the overlap, but overall a great display.

on to Barnsley

He was well up for it today.

Maybe he can do more than take the ball of Santos and get clattered after all.

Did a lot of the 'dirty' and 'unseen' work today, read the game well and was the last man/covering man a few times.

Duberry is going to cause serious problems for full backs this season.
