Yes, like at Northampton, that worked.  I'd try getting some crosses onto Dalby's head personally, because he can head a ball and that's what he was signed for.

Even with injuries, I think about half of today's team have been declared Championship standard so far this season. Either they've been massively overrated or SS is doing a hopeless job getting the best out of them.

The football management at Hull probably have a better idea of what's good enough for the Championship than a few optimistic third tier watchers to be fair

9 for me.  3 home wins.

Only player that can have any ounce of credit out of today was for forino - body on the line and headed everything.

like Northampton, dalby scores 1 of his 2 chances and we win easy

feel a bit sorry for ss as he can’t put these chances in himself, but the second half was just woeful and we aren’t going anywhere fast with performances like that.

we have to win at Huddersfield now, otherwise Stevenage are god knows how many ahead with 3 in hand !

To sign him, based on what he does, then bring in a selection of talented but erratic inverted wingers makes absolutely zero sense.

Said a week or two back if Morais was playing for us and a decent left footed winger on the other side Dalby would be the one with 7 goals by now.

Just listened to SS post match interview. Starting to sound very ground hog day. "We can't keep doing x and not doing y. We knew what to expect from their style of play and the slow bobbly pitch"

Heard this repeatedly but seen little evidence that we can rectify or combat these problems.

Actions speak louder than repeated words.

Questions SS ability to manage his players, repeatedly....

I must say that I was all in favour of the appointment of SS and still think he can get us where we want to be. But also he has not taken ownership of one poor performance or one bad result but tried to deflect criticism onto everything but him and that today includes the pitch!

A very worrying trait that and I hope that in reality he admits mistakes to himself as a minimum.

Maybe we should have retained Thomason ?

Today was the first time I've actually thought we've missed him.  But in hindsight we've missed him in every single away game.  He would have improved us, even while getting booked for late challenges.

Just seemed to be involved more, whatever his faults I never associated him with going missing.

Not sure Dalby ever been that prolific except league one in Scotland.

There were performances similar to today when he was here and in the team

I think the point is there weren't 6 of them on the trot.  I know today was the worst of the lot, but the point stands, he played well not every week but more often than not, as did the team as a rule.

He's scored 2 goals in 50 or so EFL games.

16 in 102 Conference games.

15 in 35 Scotchish Prem.

Then you'd be wrong

Burstow's scoring record was shite before us too.

No reason to write him off at this stage.

He’s got a point about the inverted wingers though.

He hasn't, but 15 in just over 30 in the SPL isnt bad, ought to equate to a similar number in our Division over a season, if the service is right.

His touch isnt the best (as in the first chance today) but he would get those bundled in, off his knee or shin type goals, as well as a few headers. Burstow and Forss still our best combo though

How many modern players would report Big Sam, Fergie or Morinhio to HR?

Cissoko would be at front of the queue

I'd include chairmen in there... too touchy feely in my opinion... taking managers to yoga classes when they should be given a bollocking...

At his current EFL scoring rate it'll take him 206 games to score 7 goals.

I was baffled at people projecting him as Drogba x SKD in the summer, and even less convinced why anyone would still be holding onto that now.

For all our faults, I really don't think we'd be better off if we'd built the attack around Sam Dalby. He looks exactly like what he is - someone who would've been the fourth best target man at Wrexham.

We could be in big trouble come December with the games coming up in November

Steady Ian, I questioned the contribution our wingers are making recently and got slaughtered.

We’re not great but we won’t be near relegation fodder.

Forss scored 2 goals 2 games ago. He’s quality at this level… different position to Dalby but I’ll not be saying Dalbys  quality any time soon.

I know I'm repeating myself and I'm not coming up with anything new, but Forss scored twice at home.  The problem is away, and he's been part of the problem to date, not a solution.  That might change, but if Dalby scored one today we'd be saying he might be the solution.  Today's chances were similar to Forss's miss early on at Northampton.  After that he hardly touched the ball, and followed it up with an anonymous performance last week.

Gotta really question this mons credibility, I'll be honest, I'd only ever heard of him through this site, people starting to say he was this and he was that and only coz Ian Evatt was really blowing it.

Now come on, seriously can anyone say we are better with this man in charge????.

We won't be able to afford it but unless there is a massive upturn in results i would get rid at Christmas and it won't happen but don't make the same mistakes again of giving a no hoper a transfer window.

Schumacher does deserve time and it has been a complete overhaul, but we aren't just a standard League 1 club. Wearing the shirt of this club carries a big weight, and I have seen nothing from this young squad so far that resembles a team that can carry that weight.

We gave Evatt a lot of time to have a go at it. But we are not Bolton in League 1 with a team of u21s, no training pitches and wages etc. This is a Bolton Wanderers in League 1 with averaged 21,000 crowds, sold out away ends, players bought for over a million and players from mostly Championship & Premier League clubs.

Our starting XI today was worth 3x of Burtons.

My point being, that it's now 5 years in League 1 and we are no better now than we were 5 years ago. And for a club this size this cannot continue.

Schumacher and the players must understand that this is far below what is expected.

The patience of our fans have been tested and then some.

Forss has played 142 games in the Championship and scored a goal every five games. Dalby has played 0 games in the Championship, 59 games in L1/L2 and scored twice (so a goal every 30 games).

On the balance of their careers, and their Bolton careers to date, I'd be backing Forss to offer more on most days. And I've zero doubt he'll be starting ahead of Dalby on Thursday.

I couldn't stress enough how much I don't care what a player has done before they came to the club.  Dalby and Taylor were quality in the Scots Prem last season, it means nothing.  Forss has to do it for us, we don't count what Sissoko has done before, or Gale, we don't really have a clue.  Its 100% about what they are showing for us.
