There was a game (Blackpool maybe?) where he said Simons wasn’t starting. I think my comment was something like “there’s no way Simons doesn’t start in this game”. He was on the bench. I’ve not questioned him since 🤣

December 9, 2025Dec 9 I see east midlands nepotism still has Nigel Clough employed extra desire for us to beat this fraud of a manager

Christie is a much better footballer imo; Cogleys strength is his pace. But he doesn't tackle and isn't that good at kicking the ball, regularly shanks the final pass or cross.Whereas Christie whilst less quick, is strong, can tackle and is better at kicking the ball.

More importantly than their respective individual ability, JDC's athleticism and fitness makes ACD tick more often. And he's a match winner. It's not a coincidence at ACD doesn't look as effective when Christie is playing

Its amazing how many players at this level aren't very good at kicking a football 😀. I remember when that used to be the priority, unless you were a CB or a Kev Davies. Now that running and marking space has increased in importance, you can be a pro footballer without being very good at kicking a football. I'm always amazed how Randall got to this level, I wouldn't bet on him to reach the goal if he was taking a penalty.

I think ACD’s put in good performances with Christie. More importantly, the primary role is as a defender and Christie is much better at this.

He seemed pretty successful em but Kevin Davies penalty technique really did look awkward

I’m now thinking it might be what @masi 51 has been talking about. Maybe Forss and Tutu might be more inside forwards rather than wingers to give more support to Burstow. Especially with ACD on the bench (which is great news he’s not injured) @Whitesince63 Sincey will be happy - who needs ACD?! 😂 If this comes off I will never criticise your opinion again! 😉

You could have said no injury because it’s pretty obvious to me you knew there was no injury

December 9, 2025Dec 9 Interesting line-up hope we play with Forss tucking in and helping Burstow wont know until after the kick off Mansfield played 120mins at the week-end and will have heavy legs the last 30. Maybe that is his thinking with ACD and gale on the bench.
December 9, 2025Dec 9 This line up is firmly in the “earn the right to play” category and I reckon Saturday’s debacle influenced the manager’s thinking. I like it, especially looking at that bench, literally waiting in the wings, but there will be a lot of pressure on Simons to create but everything will come down to the performance. A lot of folk like me will want to see some serious commitment and quality tonight. We’re hurting.

I know he wasn't at SKDs level, but was a similar type of player, neither blessed with great shooting technique, or subtlety. It was always a surprise/worry when GM was trusted with a penalty, but put a few away, as well as one infamous miss.
