I think that's his usual look. Reminds me a bit of Phil Brown when he's trying to recover after supporting the attack, not a natural athlete. Quote

Chicken and egg? At home he pings accurate passes left right and centre and wins loads of challenges; away from home the same passes go to the opposition and his tackling is off. That's a big generalisation but not a million miles away. Quote
Tombwfc Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 I hope Forss plays. Don't think any of the forwards are in good form (outside of ACD) and I doubt chopping and changing will help them. Quote

To be fair to Chistie, although he's not blessed with pace, he was playing the whole right side on his own first half. Quote

The bit about the forwards not being in good form is an understatement and that's the main issue that SS will want to resolve for me. Currently struggling to see a shot on target from them never mind a goal, but this is the sort of game where I'd hope there will be opportunities to get back to something like pre-October levels. frank_spencer Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 If everyone is fit I'd go with what I reckon is our strongest XI TSL JDC-Toal-Johnston-Conway Sheehan-Simons ACD-Forss-Gale Burstow Quote

Would keep Christie at right back also. Not been impressed with JDC for a while now. Quote

That doesn't mean I'd like to see that all the time. Away needs Erhahon and a stronger winger, at home v a good team needs Dempsey Quote
frank_spencer Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 I'm not a fan of changing the tactics for other teams, play the same tactics regardless of the side and go to win the game. Cardiff were no great shakes and they're clear at the top of the league. We seem to be scared to go and play our way. Quote

Bit harsh when we have longest unbeaten home record in the country, our issues are away from home. (Although 7 points in last 3 away games gives a sliver of hope). Whatever peoples opinions I do not think anyone can argue we have not yet found our best XI. Keeper is ok Rb Christie better player but I think JDC makes a better foil for ACD LB Conway but a long season for him to play at the level he was early seasons and teams seems to be targeting the ball over his head. Taylor not got there yet. Centre backs Toal and GJ - but do not think anyone had GJ down at start of the season as a guaranteed starter mainly due to having a left foot. Forrester seems out of favour . Forino looked ok early season but gone off But it is midfield where I am not sure what our best combination is. Simons, Sheehan, Dempsey, EE, Morley and if you include the 10 position McAtee and Forss are competing for 3 spots . ACD on one side but Tutu and Gale offer something , not sure why Cissoko disappeared after scoring a couple , is he injured or just rested or not that good. Burstow is first choice up front but desperately needs a goal or two. Dalby not quite happened for him and not looking that close ! We obviously have Randel who can cover anywhere on the pitch 🤫 Quote

Certainly a bit more of a box to box rather than just sitting in front of the four. I know some might see it as a negative to play without a ‘10’, but I’d much rather put Sheehan in front of the four and let Simons and Dempsey basically just run about for 90 minutes. And that would hopefully give a bit more freedom to the wingers to be a bit more secure in midfield. Quote
gonzo Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 Sheehan has become the first name on the team sheet for me. We don't have another midfielder capable of what he can do. Quote
