Still not sure which comments you disagree with @desperado?

We weren't playing well, we were 2nd best, there were a lot of comments saying Lincoln were playing well, the ref was poor, some of our players weren't at their best, the ref was against us, etc, not much to argue with?  In game comments can be valid even if we equalise later.

It’s the finality and seeming irreversible comments that are made by some.

As I mentioned in my follow up post we weren’t bottling it, we haven’t got an attitude problem thinking we’re better than everyone else, Tutu isn’t useless, we were never getting battered, we aren’t shit and Lincoln aren’t shit - just some of the comments I disagree with.

But yes, I’ll concede, having read back again there were some fair comments too.

Was I pleased with the 1st half? Not really. But I never felt there was a need to be overly negative and write-off our chances or dismiss players as being shit. I commented at the time we need to do more, get a grip in the middle of the park (I thought that got better with Sheehan on in the 2nd half)

That first half (and indeed Lincoln’s display throughout the game) was tough to cope with. Third went to second and got a point - that’s not a sign of us bottling it, having a shit attitude and us being crap.

As lots have said in the last 5/6 pages, it’s a great point, which keeps us just about in the mix.

I don’t think we’ll finish above them, they’re a well drilled outfit and deserve to be where they are.

Nonetheless, they have to lose at some point and are due a blip.

Also well worth a gander on their forum at posts from someone called Jules. He’s a proper thin skinned little weirdo with a massive irrational hatred of us every single time we play them.

I’ve said all along they are a good side, athletic, skilful at times, well coached, playing to their strengths and assembled on a budget to get out of this league. And unlike us, they are a settled side who work as a team and know each other well - whereas we are still throwing on debutants and adjusting system.

But there is no law that says they have to have a blip and at the moment there’s nothing to suggest they will, so our priority is to treat every game like a cup final, win as many as we can, protect our place in the playoffs and not think about automatic promotion. Our team will gel with time.

As for Jules….he’s an admin on their board and an absolute cock. Banned me from their site years ago when I commented that our goal was well taken - not jingoistic or crowing, just factual. After years of friendly banter with their more reasonable fans, one comment was enough for him to ban me from all seven? boards in that particular host with no appeal or review. Asshole.

No evidence we can take advantage if they slip?

Really!

Recent form says otherwise surely.

Looking at yesterday and the season as a whole, our away form isn't great, particularly against top half teams and it's going to have to improve if we were to catch them, particularly when you look at where we have to go

Based on yesterday I'm not convinced

Roll on Wednesday

With an optimistic head on, if we can put a run of wins together and they maybe draw two or three we can creep to within 2-3 points and see if they get twitchy or lose a couple of key players on the run-in.

We've added a lot of attacking assets this window, time for them to show why we did it, fire us some goals in and start rattling those victories up. At the very least we'll cement our play off place comfortably and go into that stage in form.

Of those in the play off places, Stockport will keep up with us, less convinced by Bradford or Huddersfield. Posh are the dangerous dark horses, could come up on the rails, get in and be a big threat

Looking at the positives, we didn’t play particularly well for large parts, the noise coming out of their camp is that was probably their best performance of the season (and they’ve been unbeaten now in 14) and we still came away with a point.

just shows we can go up levels and they can likely drop off. So it’s not a foregone conclusion that top 2 and we know that the other sides we have games coming up against won’t challenge us as much as Lincoln did

I joined while living in Lincoln and they had that fantastic run under the Cowleys but we didn’t play them much if at all then but the first time we did and I commented, politely and constructively like you he banned me as well lusty. The guys just a complete asshole as you say.

I wouldn’t write either County or Bradford off yet either with their games in hand and for me we have to forget about chasing Lincoln and just concentrate on beating who we’re playing and if that works out to be enough to make the automatics then great but if not we’ll do it through the play offs. Not worried about Posh, for me Reading are the ones to worry about with jack Marriot back and fit they’re really firing.

Hoping Stockport get distracted by the Vertu Cup at the semi final stage. Wembley next ??

Yes, catching Reading in a bit of form, won't be easy on Tuesday at all

Agree on this. Also while it could count for little it seems their fan base is a bit rattled. Anyone throwing the towel in with 14 games left is a bit mental.

i also think we haven’t yet seen the benefits of schueys earlier rotation on Tuesdays and Saturdays and we will only know come the end of the season. We’ve 2 midweeks left as opposed to others and our squad is the strongest it’s been.

These moments are the ones we should be enjoying. Exciting run in with a manager who knows how to get this done. Even if we don’t land 2nd I fancy us against anyone left.

Hiya Dimron, I recall bumping into the Strugglers landlady on a couple of nights when she was off duty. She would go in the Wig and Pen pub? or whatever it’s called near the top of Steep Hill. She did like a drink if memory serves me right. No I never lived over there, I did stay in many hotels though. The White Hart in Lincoln centre plus Holiday Inn? on the waterfront. Various others all over Lincs, Petwood at Woodhall Spa was a favourite because of the Dambuster connections. Anyway, watched the game on telly, they were a well motivated, well organised physical side with some good players for this league. We struggled to compete for big spells of the game, but we stuck at it , got the equaliser, then tried to nick a winner. Happy with the point but feel slightly fortunate. Beat Reading and more importantly Evatts Oranges (always hated them for so many reasons, too many to recount here) and I will feel a lot better.

I asked because the only hard core BWFC I have met in Lincoln (excluding the Crombies) was in the RAF Regiment and lived there about 20 years ago.

Living in the area I keep an eye on Lincoln and go to some of the games but always feel like an outsider looking in. They have been steadily building up to this promotion push since losing to Blackpool in the Play Off Final in 2021. Skubala is in his third season and knows his best team whereas SS seems to be lagging in this respect and is too quick to rotate his players in my opinion.

Lincoln players are very fit and determined and rarely slacken off whereas we still tend to have periods of pointless play, yesterday's stats indicate this. This was really bad under IE to the extent I stopped going to matches a long time before our Wembley downfall.

Reading and Blackpool are just as critical in my view, at least 4 points needed, preferably 6 and keep the pressure on.

PS... the younger Anna used to scare me but as we both matured we gained an "understanding"

Cissoko has done well in his last 2 cameos.

So much more effective when he beats the man and puts it in. You don’t need to go and beat them again. Plus the lads in the middle have already made their move.

Cissoko summed himself up in 1 bit of play. Fantastic bit of skill on the touch line to get past his man then whipped the ball in and it went out of play at the opposition corner flag 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

He’s right footed isn’t he? The issue he has is that he often beats his man on the outside, but then ends up on his left foot. So rather then a first time cross with his weaker foot, he cuts back inside so he can put in the cross with his right. Part of the problem with the inverted wingers.

Is Erhahon slowly becoming our player of the season btw?

What was most impressive yesterday, was how he responded and performed in the 2nd half after the harsh booking and iffy end to the first half. I’d have been taking him off at half time. On reflection that would have been wrong. Well done Schumacher for keeping him on and him being integral to our equaliser.

Him and Sheehan against Reading please.

If he can avoid injury, carry on progressing and more importantly get the game time l can see him being.

Must say I hadn’t realised he’d played so many games.

Think his performances have always been consistent it’s just now they’re being acknowledged

think it’s 1 defeat in 15? When he plays and all of our defeats he hasn’t played / started. Tells the story

One thing stuck out for me yesterday was how narrow the pitch was, I felt we struggled with this massively because it was too easy to close us down with the slow passing first half.

Fair fucks though, they probably deserved the 3 points but you know how that goes.

It’d be great to seem them have a little wobble

That piece of skill yesterday was superb, shame the cross went out for a throw

Never a yellow that, more shite officiating that has now become the norm in tier 3.

Great ball in for dalby as well, loved he’s reaction as well to the goal.

Not seen much chatter on burstow and gales omission from the squad. Good competition for places now, they are going to struggle if they don’t take their next opportunity. Schuey doesn’t seem to fuck about does he.

They will have one. They’re 14 unbeaten and have 15 left - they will not go 29 unbeaten.

The big questions are how they react to the inevitable loss - ie whether it turns into a proper slump or whether they bounce straight back - and whether we’re in good enough form ourselves to close the gap and increase the pressure when they do.

I’m convinced that we go into the last 6 games either level or at most 3 points behind them. We’ve then got to hold our nerve and get some massive results.

I good point and a good last 15. But on the whole it wasn't a comfortable game for us at all.  But I would say the same for them too. Lincoln are there to be caught but we have to make sure we do our bit to do that.
