Casino Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 i know your thoughts on crowds, but the relevance ends there in my opinion how many players the quality of anelka and diouf turned out that day we could go back 20 more years to a game v preston on the 28th august league cup, first round, first leg with 17 thou on we'd not get 7 now comparing different eras tells us nowt really we're an established prem team, with three of the best players in the league, and we can't get 20000 of our own to turn out i know all the numbers btw this is the longest unbroken run of 20k+ crowds since the war, but we really ought to be getting more than we do boltons fault, dein and his ilks fault, can't be arsed so called supporters fault, i dunno

My theory is while people whinge about how shit going to the match is the more people are put off going, nowt to do with location of the stadium, price of beer etc If people who don't normally go to the match are thinking about going and read/hear about how shit it is they don't want to go. until there's a positive vibe about going to watch the wanderers we'll struggle to fill the ground. I can think of at least 4/5 of last season whinges that they've sorted or at least tried to sort out, No fireworks, No 'I Feel Good', pies were shite in come greehalgh's, big queues at half time for beers they're trying that queue buster, too expensive twas a cheep tickets game on saturday and they've dropped the bus prices to ?1.50 return. The club are at least trying to do something which they haven't done for the past few years and it'll take a while for these changes to have an effect on peoples perceptions of the match. Until then we'll just have to hope that Sammy Lee's sexy football as seen on saturday is here to stay!

We have few fans in total - perhaps 25000ish maximum for league games. For games on bank holiday weekends, in the school holidays, against uninspiring opposition, when we are in poor form, then over 19000 home fans is understandable. It is dissappointing we are, if anything, losing fans rather than gaining them. I suppose if you are a young kid in the Bolton area, then it is far easier to support Man Utd or Liverpool, than us. That way the parents can buy them the kit but know they will save on going to the games as many will be sold out. We can only hope that this season we can capture the imagination as we did in the Okocha/Djorkaeff years when crowds showed signs of making a breakthrough, and we had 26000-27000 home fans for games against the likes of Fulham and Leicester.

Fair point but i also think that they need to make it easier for people to pay on the day. Fulham have a 'neutral' end and it's possible to just turn up on the day, pay your money and get in. Like it or not, a lot of our support can take it or leave it and if you start putting obstacles in the way of attending, then they'll leave it.

There is nothing more ridiculous than queueing up to buy a ticket and then queueing up again to hand the ticket you've just bought to the bloke on the turnstile!

BWFC don't need to spend thousands on researching the problem, most of the solutions are fairly common sense.

Three losses on the trot hardly inspires people to come to the match does it. If we perform like on Saturday, things will pick up I reckon but at the moment (or atleast before Sat) it's like putting your cash in a fruit machine and knowing nothings coming out the other end.
