HR
Positives; We got a point. We moved up the table. Fulham needed the win more than us (even though we were at home.) We have only conceded 2 goals in our last 4 league games. Another game for the new players to settle in. Were now only 5 points behind Newcastle. Another game towards getting our ANC players back. BeeDee
Ultimately 0 - 0 draws will not keep us up. We had to beat fulham. We had the chances, but without a goal scorer we will struggle.
Mounts Kipper
I think Taylor will be a very good player when he gets match fitness, he has the best left peg I have seen at Bolton for years his delivery from corners is superb.

Who gives a F?ck about newcastle? 6. Meite has been no better than our other defenders this season, and Diouf is not goal scorer. On another note. Michalik, any better than Cid? Discuss. YATESY
No one seems to looked at each player yet, so here goes: Jussi - not a lot to do. Kicking poor again Steinsson - looks mustard this guy. Nothing got past him, recovered well on a number of occassions and overlapped quite well. You can tell he has jumped straight from playing first team football elsewhere Gardner - great game defensively with some excellent cover work. Can do better going forward. AOB - not a lot to do. Got caught wrong side of his man once in each half. Can not head a goal for toffee though. His miss late on was not as bad as v Aris but still poor 7 foot tall man - does the basics OK at the back. I would prefer to save the ?5M on Cahill and stumble along with clean sheets until Meite gets back. Had our best chances too - the chip wide was a poor miss and the toe poke lacked power. JOB - OK and unlucky to be taken off. Offered more in the first half than his central midfield partners. Nolan & McCann - not sure what they did to merit a full 90 minutes. Does McCann have something on Megson? Guthrie - it was crying out for him to be moved back inside. Looked lost on the right. Taylor - you can see the difference with the other new signing Steinsson. Taylor hasn't played much this season and it shows. Crossing ability looks good though. Davies - no support did not help him but a poor game by his standards. Seemed to have a few opportunites to burst through the defence but seemed to go on the wrong angled run. Cohen - why? I have no idea what this bloke offers Andranik - a shadow of last seasons version but what can we expect when he has become the 'forgotten man' Hider - too late to make an impact. Him and Davies can not play together but we may have to get used to this thought!! Megson - the right line up for an away game but at home against a team second bottom was an awful team selection. FSA would have changed that during the first half in disgust at the poor performances. Why Cohen came on first for JOB (rather than McCann) was a puzzle, as was Guthrie being left out wide. Overall the Galloping Chip summed it up pre-match on Radio Manchester - 'With that team, I can't see where the next goal is coming from!' Moderators Casino Posted January 30, 2008 Moderators Share Posted January 30, 2008 Diouf who went nearly 12 months with a EPL goal? you'd have flogged dalglish if you were his boss at liverpool, then?
Rembrandt
he's as good as most in the leaguewhether we choose to play him as one remains to be seen Interesting point, Casino. We won't know unless EHD's played in support of Davies or played as a spearhead with someone else supporting him. I'm not convinced he's a signigicant goalscorer though. Anyway, with Megson's cautious tactics we're not likely to find out. So don't hold your breath.
Smiley
Mccann was awful aswell. thought he put in some very good tackles, broke up play and won possession back for us on a number of occasions.
frank_spencer
thought he put in some very good tackles, broke up play and won possession back for us on a number of occasions. which is exactly why he plays. he's there to break up play and allow others to attack etc but they don't

rochdale white
Diouf put in one of the best individual performances I've seen by a Bolton player at Brum away a couple of years ago... playing up front on his own. I've no doubt he can do it. But we would have to get players near him. We're not doing that with Davies at the moment.

Guest squidgy66
Defensively we have tightened up. I was watching us play Newcastle on telly last week and one of the pundits pointed out how quick Bolton were to get back when the opposition got the ball and in a very short space of time there were 8 or so players defending the play. I noticed similar last night. But no one like to see defensive football at home if you aren't going forward too. I had 2 nice samosas with chilli and garlc mayo waiting for the trian to Wiggin in town after the match.
Moderators Horwich Posted January 30, 2008 Moderators Share Posted January 30, 2008 you'd have flogged dalglish if you were his boss at liverpool, then? Before my time so dont know all the details. I do know that our current team does not have enough goals in it. I dont think we would even with a half decent striker. We need goals from other areas of the field. The current lot can't do that.
