exiledwhite2
Aye, have'nt we heard this before when LSL was in charge, look what happened to us, and him, when we tried tp play attacking football, FFS there's only 4 games gone, BTW I would love to see Phil 'sunbed' here, did you see the passion in him yesterday Never thought I'd see the day when I said this, but yes, Browny is the man for us if Megson doesn't shape up. He is a bit of an Allardyce clone but then I was always a staunch fan of Allardyce. Thing is I doubt he'd leave Hull right now. Megson, well, I've never been sold on him. But the jury is still out. Last season he inherited a mess and ultimately we stayed up (should've been easier than it was mind). So far this year, I think we've been unlucky with the injuries and suspensions. I can't really judge him when 3 of his biggest signings are missing for most of the 4 games we've had. However, if the situation isn't any better after 10-12 games we need to act decisively. William Bear
I'm sure there are threads like this on football forums up and down the country, but the more I read them I can't help but think we are any less deluded than the Bar Code fans. Sack Megson. Sack Gartside. And who exactly would be a suitable replacement for a club such as hours? More importantly who of any resonable ability would even want to? Managers and boards come and go and very few have a tangible long-term impact on the club. Keeping trying to oust them in quick succession, however does. Newcastle has proved that. fat phil doesn't own the club and is a raging egomaniac.. his embarrassing statement about sammy lee will be better than big sam was the start of his downfall the appointment of magson his deciding factor.. gartside will look a red ginger if he sacks megson so he won't.. gartside needs to f?ck off before he destroys OUR club.. utter utter c?nt
astley bridge
the thing that worrys me is the way we are losing, no creativity, struggling to create chances against average teams, what can you expect when you have joey o'brien (a average defensive midfielder at best) playing on the right wing,

Trouble is Squidgy, thoughts like that (and "we're overachieving & can't sustain it" etc) are even more negative than the critics of Megson & Gartside. Those thoughts mean we've no hopes for the future, and that the current problems can't be solved. Do fans of other clubs think like that about their clubs too ? Staying in the Prem and having occasional good cup runs shouldn't be beyond a club like BWFC, given the way the odds are stacked against promoted clubs these days. And it shouldn't mean defensive bang-it-upfield-and-hope football. IMHO
Rembrandt
Thing is ........ we?ll only be significantly better when Elmander, Cahill, Taylor etc come back (or Riga, Smolarek are brought in) if they slot into a plan which is nearly working or at least shows promise. And the plan so far seems to be .... what ? If it?s hitting long balls upfield and looking for the second ball, then there?s no point with a slow ponderous midfield. And I don?t see where those missing players would help in that ? apart from Riga, and maybe the unknown (to us) Smolarek. But will GM start with more than one (maybe two) attacking players at the same time anyway ? Can he cope with less than 3 or defensive midfielders ? It?s the same with saying he?s signed better players. Very true. But he doesn?t seem to have a plan to get the best out of them, and we?re still left with a thin squad with some glaring problems. Maybe we?ll know better by November, but so far it?s mostly going as a lot expected when he was appointed ? sadly for the club.
Mounts Kipper
We have to get a formation that enables us to play as many of our quicker more mobile players as possible, riga/gardner/smolarek/davies/muamba/steinson/taylor/elmander and even vaz te come into that category and would be the back bone of the team, for me the likes of j.obrien/nolan/mcann/shittu, are the players who should be be dropped. For a guy who gets slated (deservedly IMHO) for playing too defensively he showed that his players are incapable of defending. We made Fulham look like Aresenal yesterday, every second ball they won, if it went loose there was a Fulham player to pick it up. At least if FSA played defensively we could show some defensive qualities. Anf Danny Shittu is the most aptly named person since Jock McTightbarsteward. Moderators Casino Posted September 14, 2008 Moderators Share Posted September 14, 2008 the only time megson has been able to play his team was against stoke it wasn't great, far from it but, it showed some promise we did try to pass and get the ball out wide if we were looking to add riga and smolarek to that, most sane folk would be pretty satisfied sadly, we've lost three of our better players in the space of a few days playing into the hands of those who decided megson was shite before he arrived and can't wait to say 'i told you so'

Tombwfc
When are the cavalry due back? Elmander could be back to save us all by next week. Cahill is back for the Utd game and Matt Taylor is fooked and will be out for a while yet. You'd imagine Smolarek would be able to play aswell. Maybe we?ll know better by November, but so far it?s mostly going as a lot expected when he was appointed ? sadly for the club. The same 'lot' expected us to be relegated by Easter when he came in, but i suppose we can just gloss over that eh?

Traf
What about the 4-1 opening day defeat 6yrs ago, also at Craven Cottage where the much-lauded Okocha failed to shine in his early days in our midfield. Sorry pedants, it was indeed at Loftus Road, but the sentiment remains the same. We were shit that day. It was Fulham away again. Okocha struggled in our midfield. Mounts Kipper
your deluding yourself casino, if it was not for a couple of strokes of luck we would have been down last season firstly jussi getting injured was a blessing, secondly the team selection at boro was shambolic, only the injury to rasiak turned the game round, this season we have been knocked out by Northampton, played 1 upfront in every game with no pace or supplementary attacking minded players starting, to add insult to injury nolan obrien and mcann are so similar it beggars belief any manager would play them at the same time, every time the ball breaks in midfield we are 2nd to the ball, the man is not even a championship manager, worse appointment than sammy lee. Not too sure how that works, its a squad game these days (and make no mistake, after two transfer windows, this IS Megsons squad). If our one and only plan is to have a fully fit first XI, and any deviance from that is unplanned for, then we are royally screwed.

It was Fulham away again. Okocha struggled in our midfield. I was present at the game, Fulham were better prepared having played in the Intertoto and were firing in all cylinders. Okocha did struggle with the pace of the game but i think he turned out ok. This is all a red herring. On the subject of Fulham, we played them last season at home (0-0) and they hadn't won in about 30 away games, Megson's tactics was to play a defensive , cautious 4-5-1, it was so depressing. That game summed Megson up. We were very lucky to stay up.
Traf
No red herrings at all, mart. 1. We seem to fare very badly away at Fulham, end of. I think we've got 2 pts from the last 9 games away against them. 2. Yes Okocha did turn out OK, but it was early days and he struggled. Who's to say Muamba won't be decent?
