January 23, 200917 yr Personally I thought Basham had a better game than Big Kev has had for 3 seasons! Thats just not true. I thought Basham did well, but if Nolan had made some of the poor passes Basham did on Saturday the crowd would have been on his back (again).

January 23, 200917 yr So Bullard has signed for Hull. Not Everton/Villa/Newcastle or the other clubs we can't normally compete with in the glamour stakes but Hull FFS. So where is the creative midfielder we are crying out for going to come from? Who is going to score the goals? Very disappointed. All we need is a pre deadline swoop for Joey Barton to finish it for me.
January 23, 200917 yr So, the board sits down with Megson and works out a fair value for a player. Given that Bullard isn't a flair player (where did that rumour come from) and that he's basically a box to box midfielder (like a better Jason McAteer) and given that his wage demands would be sky high, he can be a pain in the dressing room, has some dodgy habits (rumoured) and spends a bit of time on the injury list, ?5M sounds like a lot. Maybe he's worth the ?5M because he's a chirpy chappy?
January 23, 200917 yr Author Barton's arrival would create hell of an atmosphere. Not sure it'd be a good atmosphere though!
January 23, 200917 yr Im not too bothered we didnt get him because as stated in this thread, hes got a lot of baggage. It is the fact that he has signed for Hull thats pissed me off most, it makes us look like a tin pot outfit.

I'm disappointed we've missed out on the joviality he would not doubt have brought to the dressing room from wikipedia 'He is known for having a good sense of humour in the football world. One example is when, during a pre-season trip to Austria, Fulham were staying in the same hotel as Real Madrid. In the hotel bar, Bullard picked up a mandolin and started an impromptu sing-along of "Old MacDonald Had a Farm".' he's one crazy bastard that Jimmy Bullard
January 23, 200917 yr I don't pretend to know a lot about Bullard, but must admit the few times I've seen him he's looked OK. What I don't understand is that if he is that good, why nobody bigger/better than Hull has signed him, and just as importantly, why Fulham are happy to let him leave for ?5M, instead of just offering him the wage he wants..................

That still doesn't mean he couldn't do a job for us. We are Bolton, we tend to sign players who for whatever reason aren't doing it for their clubs and are deemed surplus to requirements. Very rarely are we in a position to sign an Anelka type player. You can try and dress it up however you like but I am disappointed and worried about the rest of this season. Megson did rate Bullard otherwise he wouldn't have pursued him at all. I think he would have been a cracking signing. Let's see what comes in but it ain't looking good.

January 23, 200917 yr Do you think that's why Capello called him up then or was that for his mandolin playing? Capello hasn't called up Gary Cahill yet so his judgement must be suspect!

January 23, 200917 yr Do you think that's why Capello called him up then or was that for his mandolin playing? injuries to Lampard, gerrard, Carrick and Hargreaves, plus a good run of form. he did't even make the subs bench though. I would've like him here but not for the price and wages being quoted
January 23, 200917 yr Do you think that's why Capello called him up then or was that for his mandolin playing? when did Capello leave Real Madrid? the fact they were in the hotel at the same time could suggest there is more to his call up than meets the eye
January 23, 200917 yr Megson may have rated him, but not at 5m and thats the differance we'll pick him up at the end of the season in the Hull fire sale after they are relegated
January 23, 200917 yr Just a proposition for you all: Megson might have thought that Bullard was worth ?5m or even more. Maybe as a club, we decided that ?15m over 4yrs was too much for a 30yr old. A transfer is never just about the actual fee.
January 23, 200917 yr Just maybe a better option has arisen and this is smoke and mirrors? Now quit whining and do some work you miserable b?stards, we're in a recession

January 23, 200917 yr I'd be disapointed, because he'd improve us, and i just want us to sign a midfielder. But if the cash isn't there the cash isn't there. Nothing we can do about that. Edited January 23, 200917 yr by Tombwfc
January 23, 200917 yr I am really glad I do not work in a company run by some of the numb fuckers on this Board. Say you fancy a pint, you walk into the pub, the landlord notices you look thirsty and he says it is ?5 a pint in here. (It is a normal wetherspoons pub in Bolton you were expecting to pay ?2). Do you buy the pint and also pay the 50p per minute the landlord wants for letting you borrow a glass. OR Tell him to shove his beer up his arse ? If then someone else walks in and is prepared to pay ?5 do you start to think my oh my I have missed out there ?

Difference is that it's not my money and I would have liked to have seen Bullard in a BWFC shirt. If we get someone in that's half decent then fair enough, but if we don't I'll be very disappointed for not having got Bullard.
Going to Hull City!!! Sky Sports News.
Is he on crack?
