Zico Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Rob Zombies remake of Halloween 2 is supposed to be pretty good too. if you like slasher films, and I'm not normally arsed, I don't see the point, but the best one I've seen in a long time was The Devil's Rejects by Rob Zombie and his mrs is worth a pop
superjohnmcginlay Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 Rob Zombies remake of Halloween 2 is supposed to be pretty good too. I liked the original Halloween's so hope it stands up to being remade, the recent re hashes of old films have been very dissapointing, mist notable was the remake of Physco with that plank Vince Vaughan as Norman Bates

Maggie Tate Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Watch Mesrine. It's a two part release, the first part is great but the second part is fucking, fucking, fucking brilliant. If it was a Hollywood film it'd be massive. If you like foreign films or aren't put off by subtitles I implore you to watch it. 'Tis French, you see. I'm sure it's available for illegal download by now. Honestly, it's brill.

superjohnmcginlay Posted October 28, 2009 Author Posted October 28, 2009 I enjoyed City of God and El Ofaranto they both had subtitles so I'll have a look for that
Mr Softee Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I enjoyed City of God and El Ofaranto they both had subtitles so I'll have a look for that Let The Right One In is a good un. In Swedish with subtitles. I think the Yanks are remaking it, but they will only cock it up like they did with Rec.
Totty Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 (edited) i have the DL of both Mesrines after watching them both at the cornerhouse - can only agree with maggie, although id give the first part the same amount of 'fuckings' as the second!!! i happily sat and watched both back to back the other day - it really is in a different league to most hollywood tripe! Vincent Cassel should be the highest paid actor in the world on this! and the end sequence of the second part had me on my feet never mind the edge of the seat truly immense... and fucking brutal!! .................................... Let the right one in is very good also - the version i have is badly dubbed with american voices, which kind of adds to the atmosphere of the film, but the acting from them kids is superb. great stuff - just wait for the yanks to fuck it up royally! Boothy Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Has anyone seen Anti-Christ with Willem Dafoe? That is one fucked up film!
Totty Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Tell you another absolute fucking gem of a flick if you don?t mind your subtitles ? Kinji Fukasaku?s Battle Royale!!! Tarrantino lists it as his favourite film of the last 20 years and wishes that that if he could have his name on any project he would have it on this! Its totally mental, but brilliant!!! dont bother with the sequel tho...

Latham8WFC Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Oldboy has to be the maddest and yet one of the best subtitled film i've seen.....
Maggie Tate Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Has anyone seen Anti-Christ with Willem Dafoe? That is one fucked up film! I have. And yes it is. Old Boy is great too, especially the bit where he eats the live octopus. Sympathy for Mr Vengeance and Lady Vengeance are grsand, Dead Or Alive is another and if you can get a full uncut version of Ichi The Killer that's totally fucked up too. I echo what was said about Battle Royale. Other foreign stuff, Goodbye Lenin and La Haine are well worth a look, and the Italian flick Gomorrah was good too.

Vincent Cassel was in La Haine too!
