Carlos Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I hadn't, I have zero interest in French and he was hardly an international regular.
bolton va va Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Zat Knight is 29, hardly inexperienced, doesn't strike me as someone who talks/leads though. I'd like Kilgallon too although he might well be out of our price range (unless he kicks up a fuss and they pretty much have to sell him) As for Meite, he wasn't very good in all reality! I do wonder whether the CB's are the real issue, I have a feeling that one of Cohen and Gardner may need to be replaced by Davis if/when he's back (or another more defensively minded player), I'm not sure we can carry 3 attacking midfielders (LCY, Ricky, Tamir) in midfield. agreed - i think a lot of our defensive problems stem from a defensively weak midfield & the injury to Sean Davis was a bigger loss than we thought at the time.

The weakness of our current pairing is when it gets physical, e.g. Carew. In a way I hope they are not up against Jason Roberts on Sunday. Would rather have either Shittu or O'Brien in there. When I have seen Kilgannon, I always thought that was his weak point. I don't think that he would complement Cahill. The latter needs a bit strong lad next to him. Did anyone see the u-21 game v France when Wheater was taken off at half time? He was an embarassment in the way he lost his man. So a lot could be wasted on no big improvement on our present collection.

I'd play Shittu against Blackburn ( assuming he is fit) but he's not the answer long term - neither are O'Brien or Knight though.

Mounts Kipper Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 What we need is a talker organiser and leader in the team, a lot of our faults are due to a lack of these skills.

I agree but the most worrying aspect of Carew dismantling our centre halfs was that he mostly did it by speed of thought and movement (beating Cahill to cut back for Agbonlahor, nutmegging Cahill after turning Knight) rather than brute strength!
Guest Frandsen08 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 i think knights biggest problem is the dealing with the ball on the deck, in the air he isnt two bad
jayjayoghani Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 What we need is a talker organiser and leader in the team, a lot of our faults are due to a lack of these skills. Isn't that Paul Robinson? A motivator, shouter, leader, growler, pointer.. ad infinitum On the other hand though, he's just not very good.
Casino Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 see, i think robinson suffers from being seen as being very much 'megsons man' ive not seen him do too much wrong unfortunately the loyal bolton fans have made up their minds
Zico Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I'll give you the others but surely only the most anglocentric football fan hadn't heard of Bruno N'Gotty Bergsson was hardly a stranger either having had a few seasons a Spurs

Casino Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 average puts him streets in front of roberto samuel

Guest bwfcdan Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I think Robinson has been torn apart in every game he's played this season...
bwfcbromcross Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 The lad collins who went to west ham would of been a good signing. I dont think where going to get a good strong defender for less that 5 mil, i dont think bolton have that sort of cash for a cb.
Pablo Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Maybe you can join the race for Rodwell ?? Seriously, what about the likes of Dawson at Spurs, or Senderos at Arsenal, or Anton Ferdinand. Players on the fringe of their current team are the ones to be looking at.
athywhite Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 I'm happy with Knight, give it time.he will never make a decent centre half of that you can be sure
jules_darby Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 average puts him streets in front of roberto samuel He's nowhere near as bad as you make out Nowhere near
