Failed World Cup Bid

Featured Replies

7 pages so I'm not trawling looking to see if this has been mentioned

but it was rumoured yesterday that Brazil are on their arse with regards getting sorted for 2014

and they may have to take it off them and give it to someone who has enough stadia in place already to go ahead with it

think us and USA were touted as one of two teams who'd be asked if Brazil do cock up

if I had a link to this, I'd post it, but I don't

I hear the Brazillian economy is fying at the moment one of the few not touched by the recession, also they already have big stadiums, cannot see it being a problem.

It's got nothing to do with Panorama. Russia and Qatar had it sown up long ago. Today's circus was all about massaging Blatter's ego. If the FA want to do something useful, they should push to get rid

Surely no one is surprised? An absolute stich up months ago.   Normally wouldnt given our press the time of day, but right behind them on this one. If the "no" votes for us were because of FIFA

it seems stadiums arent the issue

Many see that the host cities? infrastructure needs to be renovated, rebuilt, or expanded. Many construction projects for roads, spaces, and other necessary components to relieve the stream of people moving into Brazil for the 20th World Cup are not yet underway. Last Thursday, the CBF President, Ricardo Teixeira lightly stated that the ?three main priorities we have are airports, airports, and airports.?

Can now see why they gave it Qatar. Priorities merely airport, airport and airport.

They have a few big stadiums, that are crumbling wrecks. However, they have quite a few to build, and they need to upgrade all the others. Think they've got to build about 50% of them, and they've not awarded the contracts for all of them yet. Oh, and they're hosting the Confederation Cup in 2013. And the Olympics in 2016.

Random fact of the day. Sepp's wife is called Fanny.

To be fair, it's time to be selfish.

Leave the footballing politics aside - we're not cut out for it. Forget hosting, just concentrate on qualifying for tournaments. Only play friendlies against the top 10 nations. Feck the rest.

No more friendlies against the likes of Trinidad, no more improving the infrastructure of the game in these countries. It does us no good and we get feck all in return.

Sepps visions

2010 South Africa, a violent and corrupt country well known for the ANC government to take bribes and are all ex terrorists who have murdered at least 1 person.

2014 Brazil, a violent shithole ran by drug barons, Sepps right hand man is Brazils represantative who was on the panorama scandal

2018 Russia, a wealthy nation of oil and gas that thrives on corruption, the country is ran by the mafia

2022 Qatar as above, not sure about the mafia though but wealthy enough to pay back handers

Use your own conclusions on fifa

Are you not thinking of Mexico

If he thought that before, then I think by the time the media as finish with them he will wise he had kept his mouth shut, because I think FIFA will really be in the cross hairs of the English media and as we've seen in the past they can really dig shit up (or make it up) when they put there minds to it

Half of you are up the wall. You're sadly labouring under the misapprehension that England is a major footballing power. We're fucking crap. We've excelled in being crap for at least the last decade. 'Yes, but the Premier League is the best in the world' you say. Why's that? It's because of people like Abramovich (Russian) buying Chelsea and those Middle Easterners buying Man City. Financial concerns are clearly of very high significance to FIFA and you're surprised these tournaments went in the direction of where all the new money in football is coming? Give my head peace.

Was there not more commercial revenue in the england bid that any others?

simple-russia needs a a lot of new stadiums,airports etc

whos going to get pieces of the action-backhanders etc

Can now see why they gave it Qatar. Priorities merely airport, airport and airport.

Sepp Blatter was asked who was his favourite Qatar player?, he replied "Eric Clapton" :pardon:

No, I'm not. And what's being a major footballing power got to do with Russia and Qatar winning the votes ?

Anyway with all this moaning, Brazil could fail to get the stadia ready on time for the next WC, and FIFA say, give it to fucking England instead.rolleyes.gif

Brazil is a proper football country, maybe the proper football country. We get these "stadiums will not be ready" scares before most major sporting events, the press were getting their knickers in a twist about the Commonwealth games a couple of months ago.

Scotland stand to gain then..

Scotland have announced that they will boycott all future World Cup Finals.

I see Boris has told FIFA that they can now f?ck off if they think they're getting free hotel suites that were on offer whilst the olympics are on
