Got to agree, but wasn't just how loud we sang that night that made it one of the best games as a Bolton fan.

It was the fact we did it for the whole game. There were alot of people who went to work the next day and had lost their voice.

I just remember Burnden Terrace bouncing, great days!

19,851 k was on for Swindon game. Another shout for the Wolves game from me, although the Fa Cup game against Everton when Patterson scored was up there as it was one of my first times in the Paddock,

I used to sit in Manny Road at BP and the Burnden Terrace on a good day was a wonderful sight - used to give me goosebumps just viewing it - and you knew we were on a roll if the Lever End piped up with a chant or two (Lever End seating days)

Tell me another game you've been to that had Bolton fans singing for the full 95 minutes apart from the moments during the game when Wolves had some of the ball t- which resulted in deafening booing from the home end.

 

Add to that Bolton's win and Super John getting away with the punch right in front of the Wolves fans and you have a perfect night.

I remember wolve's kicking off and deafening boo's filling the ground for their every touch, after about the fourth pass their bloke bottled it and passed it straight to us. Everyone turns to each other and thinks we've got em here.. The atmosphere in the ground for the half hour before kick off was better then most other games I've been too.

This is gods honest truth, on my daughters life an' all that -

I'd never done owt like it before,but i actually wrote to Bruce Rioch a week before the game, asking him to put out an appeal in the paper for the Bolton fans to turn Burnden into "a cauldron of passion", to appeal for every decision, and to get behind the team like never before,act as a 12th man etc etc.

Two days before the game Rioch was on the back page of the B.E.N. appealing (almost word for word what i had written) for the fans to really get behind the team,appeal for every decision blah blah blah.

The rest is history.

I felt a bit proud,and Rioch went even further up in my estimations, and i walked around with my head wobbling for a day or 2.

err no still miss it....would i swap what we have now for those old days probably not but still miss Burndens special atmosphere whether it was Wolves or Ancona

I agree with the Wolves one, the Newcastle 3-3, the last game at Burnden V Charlton, there are too many games which bring back great memories.

The Sunderland game when Allardyce scored the long header (1974?) was just before my time, but there was a great YouTube clip of that game, and the atmosphere sounded better than any I've heard.

 

The clip is saying deleted for some shitty reason. I used to re-visit that clip once a week to restore my faith, but my life now has a big gap in it

Was that game not played on a Wednesday afternoon because of the power cuts?, There were loads of us got the cane next day for wagging school.
