Bolton Wanderers and England under 21's midfielder Fabrice Muamba collapsed during the FA Cup quarter-final at White Hart Lane as Tottenham Hotspur hosted Bolton Wanderers.

Fabrice 23, received medical treatment while on the field of play shortly after collapsing in the 41st minute of the game. Fabrice was then rushed to hospital as the game was abandoned by match official Howard Webb after consultation with both managers Owen Coyle and Harry Redknapp.

Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Fabrice.

Update

Fabrice is stable although in a critical condition in intensive care in the Heart Attack Cente at the London Chest hospital.

Don't even know why, could of easily put a Spurs player on the back but I got an England shirt with Muamba on the back today.   Hello to you lot by the way, as you probably guessed I'm a Spurs fan!

  • Retiring the shirt is the most ridiculous thing I think I have ever heard.

Spot on. No matter how I have rated Mr Webb in the past, he will get a warm round of applause next time I am at a match he is in charge.

His actions saved one of our own and for that he will not be forgotten

Same, he handled the whole situation brilliantly.

Imagine if we won the cup and he lifted the trophy.

That is much better news than I could have dreamed of on Saturday night.

Come on Fab! What a fighter.

Really touched by all the tributes, quite a few personal dislikes for clubs have been forgotten now.

#FansUnite

Truly amazing, this news gives us all hope.

Just been over to the Reebok, very emotional looking at the tributes, amazing to see sunderland turn up as we were there. My little girl said a prayer with me.

I'm going to the Reebok tomorrow night. I feel there's a collective strength that's helped him get to get to this stage, we need to carry it on and get him through it.

Brilliant news!!

Come on Fab!! Great news this!! Keep on fighting buddy!!!

I think Spurs will have a special place in my heart from now on.

The support from clubs all over the world has been humbling, but Tottenham Hotspur and their supporters have been class.......absolute class.

#bwfc say Fabrice Muamba ''is now able to breathe independently without a ventilator. He is able to recognise family & respond to questions'

who's Henry Winter? I saw this and thought The Fonz was tweeting about Fab.

Henry winter actually talks a fair bit of sense usually

One of the better journos imo

What Homo said. It's not often I say a journo's alright, but his articles are usually well written and well informed.

Aye like Moose with Stoke, for a good while have loathed everything about Spurs.

Don't know why,and I've been shown to be wrong.

Lot of respect for how they've reacted.

A mention too for Blackburn for coming out and basically telling us not to worry about the weekend.

Nice touch.

Campo is great, saying he will come to Bolton and been trying to get news from SKD

Top man.

His 'good mourning' tweet was unfortunate, mind!

Very promising news today. Better than I'd dared hope at this early juncture.

Come on, Fab.

Just watching the news as has become some kind of vigil and couldnt believe my ears.

Cant be a great deal short of a miracle he is even alive, never mind able to recognise people.

I know its very early days but I for one am getting too carried away.

Cmom son, you have restored a lot of human faith in so many.

Thank you lord for giving him back to us our prayers have been answered
