Funnily enough, I was thinking about you about 11 yesterday, wondering how it was for folks in your job in such weather. Clearly, the top ones just keeping on keeping on!

They are building a block of apartments next to our head office in Reading.  Was there yesterday and was watching 4 lads up to their knees in concrete leveling it all out with these big boards on the end of a long pole. I bet that is a shit job in summer never mind winter.

Not sure they can do the pours if the weather is too inclement (cold or wet). A get out of jail free card for them!

Well they took the risk yesterday. It wasn't cold but it was windy and the rain came in heavy later.

I would still rather do my work in the comfort of the office (remote or at home) than be 12 floors up lugging steel about.  That said, when I was younger and working in my Grandads factory there was a quiet satisfaction from doing a hard day's graft.  Oh and opening that little brown wage packet on a Thursday lunchtime 😀

Ha. Just watched Winterwatch 1963: The Big Freeze

I was born at home in Jan 64 and the midwife had to walk fucking miles up Belmont Road because the snow was too deep for the ambulance to take my mum to Townleys

Blimey. They just got on with it back in the day. It’s a great watch if you cast a critical eye on it and wonder how today’s wet wipes would have coped

Resilient isn’t their middle name, for sure.

Got that right.

Todays big lads start crying when footballers kneel down for 3 seconds.

We’ve never been softer.

Or the hard men of football haven't got a spine to make their own mind up and just go with the social media screechers.

Very soft indeed.

James MacLean does it and he gets hammered.

The double standards. Tsk.

Take the knee you mean, like the rest of them?

Or gets hammered for being a bit of a twat on other issues?

Gets hammered for standing up for his legitimate personal beliefs.

I don’t get the fuss with him.

His family currently live protected by the British army. If he feels that strongly about them he should fuck off back to Ireland.

All that aside he spends most fixtures against us goading our fanbase, showing his Republican tattoos and running to our fans celebrating when they score. Then moans when he gets stick.

The guy is an obnoxious attention seeking bell end.

That's a pretty fair assessment.

I'm all for people having their own beliefs, but there's more than one way of expressing them civilly.

I thought folk got the hump because he won’t wear a poppy.

I’ve not got wound up about a footballer since Alan Stubbs.
