Are you really comparing Klasnic to Anelka?

You could give the ball to Anelka 30 yards from goal and say, "Right, off you go" and he could create his own chances.

Klasnic isn't that sort of player.

A talented finisher of that there is no doubt, but especially this season, we've not had anywhere near enough quality to carry him. We were at our best this season playing 4-5-1 .. when he wasn't in the team.

And so will Sordell, at half the price and with twice the work-rate.

How much did Sordell cost again?

He can work his bollocks off, without the ability to put the ball in the net it's totally wasted. I've not seen enough of him to comment.

I hope he's a world beater, however I doubt it.

I'm with Carlos on this. Klasnic should have been kept, if possible obviously. He would batter the championship. I seriously worry about our goalscoring threat now. I don't know where people have got this opinion that Sordell is some kind of goalscoring God. We've seen about 10 minutes of him. Davies will never be a major goal threat. The only hope we have is that Ngog stays and is capable of playing well in the Championship. At the moment he looks like a slightly leaner, more mobile Davies.

Anyways, overall I'm sad to see Ivan leave.

i suspect it was out of our hands

its appeared clear that klasnic has had enough of coyle and it probably worked both ways

that, and his high wages, meant a parting was inevitable

That's the mentality of this club isn't it. Folk used to call Anelka lazy. Utterly fucking baffling.

That was only baffling because he wasn't

I remember stating on here after someone claimed that, that he'd chased back and tackled in his own area in the game the poster was moaning about

Klasnic though, was lazy (or unfit)

I'd have N'gog over Klasnic

No question

I have a cunning plan there too. Cut Coyle adrift, with whoever is the assistant, the fat kitman, extra goalkeeping coach et al.

Klasnic would bag at least 25 in that league and we could even afford to leave him goal hanging rather than running around like a headless chicken. Just a shame he was on so much money because thats the only reason we couldnt keep him imo.

With his standard of finishing, with the extra space he would have found himself in, in the Championship, he would have scored for fun. Gutted to see him go.

If a striker scores 20-25 a season he can stand still for me.

He might not be the most mobile, but he still knocked a ball played into him off to a supporting player quicker than other strikers. He has more technical ability and eye for goal than the rest combined.

Tony Philiskirk was no marathon runner, but still put the ball into the net on a regular basis- good at his level

Good luck Ivan

He still has to be motivated to do those things

Anyone who thinks a semi interested Klasnic would have all of a sudden scored bagfuls in the Championship a disservice and kidding themselves!

you need players to get us out of the championship - klasnic was one of them, as is eagles. when we do get back into the premier league these championship players need replacing. sorry to see klasnic leave, but i guess he wanted to go.

From what he has said, it looks like he didn't want to go.

not read anything in the rags so only going off what i've read on here. i suspect money was the problem then. either way he didn't want to stay that much.

As far as I know, that man's said nothing yet?

I would have preferred Klasnic to stay than Davies but I don't think it's much of a loss. His body can't cope with the demands of the English game, that's his problem rather than being lazy. He'll be better in a Southern European league where they amble about in the sun.

Fook me, anyone would think we are going down to a pub league reading the comments. There isn't a huge gap, from the championship games I saw last season the quality wasn't much different. Klasnic was an expensive if class finisher. His stamina won't hold up any better in that league either as he would only be suitable as an impact sub. Another criminal fuck up from Coyle was to start him against Stoke, as bad as rushing back Chungy into the first team.

better that than a no impact starter

anyway, wasn't 'impact sub' exactly what ricketts did

worked for us quite well

anyway, i don't think he wanted to play for coyle

i don't think we can afford him

so, it's 'nowt to see here, move on'

Klasnic the only 'proper' goal scorer (we had) and now who will replace him to put the ball in the onion bag eh?

Goals dropped off in the 2nd half of the season
