RUREADY2ROLL Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Got a text of Mitch saying Karl Robinson today so I voted for him as there is a cigarette paper between the rest IMO Who the fuck is Karl Robinson? Pauls brother? Quote
bolty58 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Thank fuck common sense is likely to prevail. We are in comparative freefall to the glory days of BSA. Taking a gamble on a Norwegian elf with DMB on his CV would be utter fucking madness IMO. It will be the steadying, defensive and combative influence of a Mr. McCarthy which could turn what is, on paper, a good squad for the Championship into a solid playoff contender. Just get the fuck on with it. It will be interesting to see how the loafers react because they won't be getting it anything like as easy as it has been under OC. Quote
Guest bwfcdan Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Pauls brother? His daughter, Elle. Tidy. Quote
John Thomas Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Big Sam first anyday, then Browny with Sammy Lee. God help us if we get McCarthy, or the other useless suspects, too grim to contemplate Quote

Arrested development Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I'm not sure why some fans would be so distraught with mccarthy. The main criticism seems to be his poor record in the prem. As we are not in the prem, this is not a problem. He has a good record in getting teams promoted. Also tends to do quite well getting players from lower leagues (jarvis, kightly etc). Quote

He would probably get a 3yr deal Quote

Guest bwfcdan Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 OGS odds have dropped further now to 5/2 with SkyBet. Doubt that means much to be fair, they always have shite odds. Quote

onlyoneawalker Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 OGS is a helluva risk IMO but I think he'd get a better reception than McCarthy and there's the nub we've disappeared so far up our own arse we'd rather get a manager who'll get a cheer than one who'll get a win, neither of those 2 really get me excited but whoever comes in has got to hit the ground running to have half a chance with 80% of our crowd football has definitely changed with the relative success of clubs like Blackpool Wigan Burnley Reading Swansea Norwich West Brom Wolves etc loads of clubs want that dream ticket and fast we had one and we haven't now but we just cannot afford to disappear into a spiral of ridiculous expectations and a revolving managerial door yep coyle should have gone but this next guy just has to work at every level - McCarthy seems fairly popular on the poll and has a good record he is the safe option Quote
LodgeMorrWhite Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Objective number one - get promoted. For me that is the sole remit of any manager coming into BWFC right now. There can be no excuses, we need someone in who will hit the ground running. I think McCarthy is ideal for us where we are now. He has worked at a similar sized club with similar aspirations, and has experience of both the Championship and the PL, again working with players at a similar level. OGS may well get a better reception, but really what do we know about what he can do at this level, where Bolton are now. Quote
Burndens Bogs Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I don't think i've ever seen an opinion poll on here with such a wide spread. Top 4 at the moment - Solskjaer - 19.07% Allardyce - 12.45% Mick Mac - 11.28% Curbishley -7.9% The spread of opinion clearly shows the whoever BWFC appoint, there are going to be a lot of people not happy. jules_darby Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 we've disappeared so far up our own arse we'd rather get a manager who'll get a cheer than one who'll get a win, Just so that we're clear, is it have a go at the fans time again? 'Cos frankly I think you're talking poppycock Who would prefer that?? Nobody I know It's an oft used argument by the pro-Megson brigade, conveniently forgetting we weren't winning under him Surely folk voted on here for who they think will bring the best results. Rightly or wrongly..... Quote
MichaelEP Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I think mcarthy is the wrong choice and a step backwards Quote

L/H White Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Think is with Mick, I'm sure he'll do a job for us at this level, just reckon he hits a block when we return to the BPL. Short term solution? Yes. Long term solution? Probably not. Quote

lrevolution Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 With rumors going around that he'll be installed until the end of the season, i think that could be the solution. Thing is with that, will he be offered a new contract if we do or don't go up? If we go up then, we'll get someone else, whereas if we stay down will he be rewarded with failure as we deem him to be the best man to get us out of this division? Quote
bolty58 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 With rumours going around that he'll be installed until the end of the season, i think that could be the solution. Elementary my dear Watson. Hopefully, you spelling it out for them will have light bulbs coming on over a lot of heads in the Bolton area. Quote
enzo gambaro Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Think is with Mick, I'm sure he'll do a job for us at this level, just reckon he hits a block when we return to the BPL. I'm not sure where this comes from. He took Wolves up and they had three seasons in the top flight before they got relegated - that's not bad for a side on a budget who had one top flight season in 25 years before he arrived. They sacked him when Wolves were two goals shy of 17th place and replaced him with a bloke who was all too clearly out of his depth before finishing 19 goals and 12 points adrift. Short term solution? Yes. Long term solution? Probably not. I agree, but if it is as essential as it is being portrayed, to get back into the Premier League this season due to the money, then surely we need a short term solution? We need to hit the ground running, and if that is the case then somebody like Mick who has a record of getting clubs up would be my choice, no matter what his Premier League record was like. If there wasn't such an emphasis on this season, then probably I'd think differently with OGS and the bloke at MK. Quote
dave2980 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I'm in Milton Keynes today let me know if I need to pick up that Karl Robinson fella on my way home. Quote
