Smiffs Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 I'd have seen more of the 70's terrace scene Elvis would have been a real person rather than some mythical figure like Jesus or Eskimos Kate bush would have been the first victim in my wank bank. Quote
no balls Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 (edited) Smiffs, don't worry because you do look like you were born 10 years earlier. x Oh and I'd have liked to have seen Elvis in Vegas too. I wished I'd seen the moon landing live. Edited October 27, 2012 by no balls Quote
gonzo Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 I wish I was bron ten years earlier because.... I would of been head first into the rave scene.... I could of been part of the proper casual culture of the late 80's... I could of kicked a Tranmere fans head in on Wembley way 91. ...oh and I could of been one of the special people there on Bommy neet v Darlo. Quote
MickyD Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 My mum would have been 15! Whilst I as born in time to have been alive during England's last World Cup victory, I only have recollections of my dad talking about it rather than the actual games themselves. I do remember the moon landing tough. 70s football scene as a teenager was just fucking scary although you tended to do stupid things so you didn't let on ow scary it really was. It was no fun opting to stand at the side of a big fucker just because you were wary that at any moment a dart could hit you! The upside was, bus fares were 2p for any journey. The confusion that was decimalisation was a rip off. I use to get a sixpence every Saturday morning and went to the local shop. Sixpence then equated to 21/2 p but that didn't buy half as much stuff. H Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 No thanks. I missed the end of WW2 by five years. Wouldn't have wanted to live through all that. And I still got to see Nat Lofthouse play, the 1958 cup final, England win the World Cup, Elvis (though not live obviously) and the birth of the Beatles. Quote
Big_Sharps Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 To see if you lot was full of shit and ran most of the time. Quote

Baron Bartrum Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 So I could have been at a drinking age for promotion at Blackburn 78. So I could have been at a drinking age for the punk glory year of 77. So I could have had the chance to sit down and have a drink with my Grandad, and talk about his war experiences, football etc. Quote

Biggish Dave Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 So I could have been drinking age for Wembley 86 & 89 as well as Wrexham. So I could have remembered more of the miners scrapping with the o.b So I could be a decade nearer to retiring Quote

Breightmet Boy Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 I'd of been able to watch the 1958 cup final on tele. I wouldn't of missed the 1966 World Cup Final instead of being put in the back garden for wailing all way through it. Quote
Burndens Bogs Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 I'm ancient enough to have witnessed a few of the things mentioned (and some not mentioned) on here - England winning the World cup Elvis The Beatles The Kinks The Small Faces The start of football violence in the early 70's Wigan casino + the Northern Soul scene Frank Worthy scoring at Blackburn to gain promotion to the top flight for the 1st time in my life Early punk days 77/78 More serious football violence in the 80's.
