March 26, 201313 yr SKD over 400 games. I'm sure Bergkamp would have played over 400 games for Arsenal as well with him having been at Arsenal for about 12 years. (edit: just check, and Bergkamp played more games for Arsenal than Davies has played for Bolton) I'm just intrigued as to why Eavesy thinks that Kevin Davies has contributed more to Bolton than Bergkamp did to Arsenal Edited March 26, 201313 yr by CWP
March 26, 201313 yr Has he been on talksport already saying no testimonial because he is 5 days away from 10 years????
March 26, 201313 yr He would be better of without a testimonial, surely it would be too embarrasing for him when only around 6000 turned up to watch us play somebody crap like Hibs for his testimonial game.
March 26, 201313 yr Has he been on talksport already saying no testimonial because he is 5 days away from 10 years???? that is a piss take from the club
March 26, 201313 yr "I have to keep my head up for the rest of the season. I think it's going to be hard for me to be involved." Sounds like he's going out on loan, possibly played his last game for us.

That's the thing isn't it? A nothing game against average opposition (we never play anyone of note in pre-season) with crap public transport, it's just not a great send off.

March 26, 201313 yr After an interview like that I doubt he will play again, he can't, Thanks Kev, Cheerio We need a new player we can bring into the song Who put the ball in the .......... Net Super...... Super .......,
March 26, 201313 yr What benefit does a testimonial bring? Serious question as I believe in the past the proceeds went into the players coffers. These days they are all millionaires so I don't see the benefit. He's got his charity set up and he's giving something back to the town using his profile. Never forget that night in Munich and him slamming the ball past Kahn when we wee being battered. A great servant, as was Bibi. Thanks and Good Luck.
March 26, 201313 yr Little point in a testimonial unless it's done for charity. But surely club could have handled the whole thing a bit better. from what KD said on Talksport, it's a bit of a PR blunder. I will never forget that night in Munich, thanks KD. March 26, 201313 yr Granted KD not what he was, but what a piss poor effort from BWFC badly handled and yet again another player not treated with the respect he deserves, its got Gartsides fingers all over it has this.
March 26, 201313 yr Author Agree with Sjm I think he's made himself unavailable for selection with certain comments.
March 26, 201313 yr I think this is the right decision. He's been absolutely superb for us given that he was signed as a gamble on a free transfer. My favourite SKD moment will probably be him clattering that petulant c*nt Evra, Evra asking "why did you do this", for SKD to reply "because I don't like you".
March 26, 201313 yr Agree with Sjm I think he's made himself unavailable for selection with certain comments. Which, to be honest, when we're in a scrap for the playoffs, is a bit shit. It could have been his ultimate swansong. Perhaps treating us with the same lack of respect as the club has thrown at him. No one is a winner here.
March 26, 201313 yr I'd like the fans packed out the Reebok on the last day of the season against Blackpool to wish Davies well, rather than have a testimonial in front of less than 10,000. That said, I think it's poor of the club telling him he's gonna miss out on one by five days.

That said, I think it's poor of the club telling him he's gonna miss out on one by five days. Once he's out of contract, he's probably going to sign for someone else (unless he retires, which is unlikely). That means he would have to get permission off his new club to play in a meaningless game in which he might get injured in, just weeks before the new season. Of course, the testimonial could take place as soon as season ends, but you can't see opposition queuing up for that after a long, hard season. As soon as the contract ends, the testimonial is out the window. It's the contract that is the issue for SKD you suspect, not the friendly.

March 26, 201313 yr when all said & done hes been an effective player for us over the years, I reckon it would have been better for him if he had accepted other offers last summer ................time catches up with everyone .Many on here dont like him & never have done amen to that ,but having a go at him for the money he has earned at BWFC is a bit below the belt as all of them are screwing the club., including our glorious chairmen whose grubby mits are all over this one it could have been left to the close season & a dignified exit , but Garside has plenty of form on turfing out loyal players in a less than decent way.
March 26, 201313 yr He can't play again now, untenable after that interview how can he be giving it all now when he won't be a part of it
March 26, 201313 yr so this is why there's not many players around anymore with kevs attitude and willingness to commit 100% week in week out to one club. run till their bollocks fall off in every game they play. represent the club admirably and try to set a standard to younger players at their club. because eventually you get treated like a twat. gutted its ended like this, skd deserved better.
March 26, 201313 yr I understand why he isn't getting a new deal. I don't understand why it has come out with eight games still to play. If he'd made half a dozen substitute appearances, it might not make much odds. As it is, he's played most weeks. It's stupid.
