seasoned Traveller Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Toughened me up as a lad getting abused of owder players. Quote
seasoned Traveller Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Am I right though Whiz, old enough to play old enough to be sledged. Â Or as it called now 'gamesmenship' Quote
MickyD Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Surely they shouldn't be playing with the adults then? If you are asking for different treatment. Am I right though Whiz, old enough to play old enough to be sledged. Â Or as it called now 'gamesmenship' Â Â Nobody is looking for special treatment for up-coming players who are young but good enough to be included in an adult game. Seconds cricket is used by some clubs to integrate younger players into the adult game. Do the child protection laws still apply? Yes, I think you'll find they do and, as a coach, JP will surely know this. That he needs to 'sledge' a teenager speaks volumes about his bully-boy tactics. That he was then bowled speaks volumes for his cuntishness. Â this 'integration' of younger players works well at most clubs. Westhoughton, on the other hand, seemed to play with very few teenage players. Â I have no intention of allowing my observations of a player's gamesmanship descend into a debate about what's good and bad for the game. Suffice to say, there will be those involved in the game who agree with me and there will be those who agree with you. I certainly wouldn't want the league to alter the rules to stop those good enough from getting into older teams. Â You can't really liken this to football because football is very much an age-related when deciding who gets to play who. Quote
seasoned Traveller Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Fair Do's Micky. Â We have plenty of teenagers in our 2nds, and they get sledged, they come off whinging, andI tell them to grow some balls, or give it em back when we bowl. As long as hands are shaken after, it's left on the pitch. Â And some say crickets boring. Quote
seasoned Traveller Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I sit on the disciplinary for the league and if someone comes in front of me for sledging an opponent we would throw it out, as long as bats are not raised or fisticuffs ensue, or wickets get booted over. Â Â Quote

How far can sledging go though? "I'd like to rape your dead mum and cum all over her rotten tits?" Would that be thrown out? Quote
KP Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I don't know what happened, but JP said he lost it a bit and did apologise. If the young lads old enough to be playing adult cricket, swearing at another player and giving him a send off then he's old enough to take some back. As long as after it happens both lads are fine with each other after, then there isn't a problem. Worse happens every week all over the country. I'm sure ST and Whizz got plenty of it as kids as did all cricketers, it just happens. Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 Pointing is retiring in October, Â Â And I got loads of abuse as a kid in seniors playing, plenty verbal On the field, pint and a handshake after its is a a big learning curve, of course there are limits to what is deemed sledging, but I'm sure generally all players stick to whats expected Quote
Whizz Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Still getting it. Doesn't bother me one bit. Also give a bit back but usually as banter and not aggressive. Â Only once have ii been up before the disciplinary committee and that was for allegedly insinuating an opponent was a paedo. Got thrown out after a personal hearing as there was loads of bullshit in their witness statements. Quote
wayne cramp Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Whitewizz, what about your gorgeous gary story , I,ve not heard it since last week. Quote

Whizz Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 No. Was before that. Â GG story has been aired many times. It needs a few beers to be told properly and be appreciated. Quote

seasoned Traveller Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I nearly retired again on the strength of it....... Quote
Big E Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 If you feel a need to swear on a cricket pitch as a general rule I would say you are likely to be a bellend Quote
olispence Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Walkdens 2's are pretty much all kids but they give more than they get. In surprised it hasn't kicked off yet! Quote
peebles Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Weather doesn't look good for tomorrow. Hope it's one of those days when we 'get away with it' Quote
DazBob Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Booooo. Forecast shite for tomorrow. Gutting really as I fancied us getting our second victory. Don't fancy trekking all the way to Wythenshawe to sit there looking at the rain all afternoon. Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 We are at Bury, saves me a journey to Daisy at least Quote
ZiggyStardust Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Chapple and Hogg (7-27) at it again   http://www.bbc.co.uk...corecard/o35445  35-4 2nd innings too.  Its quite possible that Lancs could be skittled out for 159, and still win by an innings. Quote
Guest Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Met Farookh Enginer at a do (in Yorkshire) last night  Fine chap Quote
